According to YouTube, these are the big questions on the lips of the YouTube community and the reason why they decided to launch YouTube Charts.
The user will be able to filter top videos by several criteria which include: videos with most views, most likes, or most subscribers over the past day, week, month or all the time. YouTube Charts will include the top 100 videos from each list and will feature 900 videos and channels each day.
The ‘most subscribed’ option will also inform the user regarding what is quickly gaining popularity at the time. People seem to be in love with ‘top 100’ kind of stuff, hence the huge number of compilations, top 10 richest people, top 25 best movies of the year and so on. This is why YouTube’s idea of creating a top of its own is quite good and might lead to some people actually checking out new stuff instead of robotically typing in the name of a song they like. Because user feedback is highly appreciated and helps improve things, the YouTube team is also looking forward to receive suggestions on what other charts should be included, such as ‘best newcomer’, ‘most shared video’, ‘fastest to a million views’ and so on.
