I know that many of you have blogs, because you want to make some money. But when you blog, and write about interesting subjects, like paranormal activities on the sky, in the mountains, like misteries or other topics, you should keep the level of your ads low. On the home page, the number of the ads should be lower than on other sites, because in my opinion this is the most important page and you should give your content a better rank, not your ads.
On your other pages, you can include more ads than you have on the main page. Still, a rule appears here also. You must not use too many ads. I guess you all know those sites where you can’t see the content because of the ads. If you like to place a banner, don’t place it at the top of your Website. There should be a picture that should represent the personality of your blog. If you place there an ad, the people will realise that you have the blog for money, so you are not interested in creating a good content, but in obtaining as much money as you can, thanks to the ad campaign.
In time, your visitors will be fewer and you might wonder why this is happening. If you are not able to find an answer, here’s your answer: you were the only one that drove away your visitors from your site simply because you used a lot of ads on your site.
Look at other sites. What do you see? What does define them? A well selected theme. You should write about a certain them, about something unique in a very carefully well-picked subject. All the successful blogs in this world talk about something unique, something different that only they provide. There are blogs about fashion, about clothing, technology, news, sports, all of them being unique in their subject of interest. Another mistake that you can do here is to write about many subjects and in fact to not write about not a single one in a very well-documented manner. You know, just like a cook that uses too many ingredients and ends up by ruining the dish, the same way a blogger can ruin his Website, if he talks about too many categories. Where are you going to place those categories? They should be placed at the top of the site or on the left or right of the site (usually on the right of the site). If the visitors will see a drop-down list that feels that has no end, they will be lost among all those categories and articles. If you have to discuss about so many topics, why not create many Websites? In this way, you avoid bothering your audience because you have too many categories. I don’t know, perhaps some blog owners like their Websites if they see them filled with links, news, banners and many, many ads on their first page, but I don’t. And like me there are many.
The most common mistake that a beginner does is to expect the readers will come to him or to his site, when he snaps his fingers. You have to have a sort of SEO department, where people or at least one person to deal with this problem. If you have a bad Web design, banners that enter one into another, videoclips that start when you reach a certain page, without you pressing on the Play button, articles that have titles written in small letters than the rest of the content and so on, the readers will see that this is a site with no future and they will not visit it anymore. Bookmarking is out of the question in this situation.
When you write to make money, the people will see this and will stop reading your site also. You must not collaborate with those who only want to make a link-exchange with you because you have a better page rank and they think that by collaborating with you, they will gain some benefits. If you know them and want to make them a good, you may do this, but in other cases, you should not do this, not because you will be drawn to bottom because of theirs, but because you should make a link exchange only with important bloggers, after analyzing very well the case. Of course, if you collaborate with a blogger that has a lower page rank than yours, but you also do not post as you did before, don’t blame that blogger, because his lower page rank affected your own. You affected your own blog, by not posting articles in a long time. This relates to one of the rules mentioned before.
The mistake that most bloggers say that it is not made by them is to blog without having a real purpose. Many of the bloggers today do it for money and a small number do it for pleasure. If you see a blog that has not ads whatsoever, tell me, because I want to see it too. I have not seen a blog that doesn’t contain ads.
