Video card – part 2

3. Other manufacturers
Apart from Nvidia and ATI there are other manufacturers of graphics processors that have but a smaller market share. One of them is Matrox whose boards have a reputation as having the best picture but whose price is too high for their performance in games. Another manufacturer is to launch a SIS Xabre GPU which is called the average performance at an affordable price. Intel finally produces a GPU that is included on some motherboards and not for those who use their computers for newer games, but only for office work or for exploring the Internet.

Buying a Video Card
When we want to buy a PV should we act as processor (GPU VPU) is, how much memory is and what version is DirectX compatible. A list of specs (GPU speed, etc..) Sheets of 3D video chipsets found in the Specs page.

Companies Nvidia and ATI launches annual general read a new generation of PV that are differentiated by performing in several product lines: PV with normal performance, average performance and the PV with the PV peak performance. Since 2003 new marketing policies of these two companies have made it difficult to differentiate which line belongs to one some minutes if we are guide only after her name. Things are further complicated by the fact that in some time been on the market for sale boards that belong to different generations. For example there may be for sale PV generation GeForce 2 (Geforce 4MX) Generation 3 (GeForce 3 Ti 500), 4 (GeForce 4 Ti 4600) and FX (GeForce FX 5900).

The best way to evaluate the performance of PV without us test it is guided by its price. PV is a more expensive always better than one even cheaper if the cost is part of a generation later. For example, a GeForce FX 5200 PV is much less performance than a GeForce Ti 4600 minutes and this is reflected best price.

Performance graphics card with regular priced (including VAT) between 100-175 dollars, the average performers priced between 175-275 dollars, while the peak performance of over 275 USD priced. Video card with the price (including VAT) in 100 USD VC are poorly performing in the latest games but they can be used for games if you have a processor (CPU) power and if we use low resolution (800×600) and a level of detail low in games. It is still recommended to take at least one VC with normal performance if we want to make sure that we can play and games that will appear in the next two years of purchase.

Price of VC is to launch its biggest fall in time but he will never fall below a certain level. We will never find such a peak-performance VC sold in the store at the price of VC with normal performance, even two years after launch. Companies out of production rather than a VC price to drop them too much. But it is possible to find a VC for sale with average price of VC performance with normal performance if they have lived since the launch 18 months or more.

A video card that can be used for games of last generation but also for processing video and graphics (rendering, animation, etc..) Semi-professional level can cost between 100 USD and 500 USD with all VAT. It is recommended that buying a PV have a GPU speed of at least 200 MHz, an amount of at least 64 MB memory and a transfer rate by at least 4X AGP port. Also it must be at least compatible with DirectX 8.1 instructions but it is preferable that it be compatible DirectX 9.

When not using the latest computer games and no complex image processing, we can buy a motherboard with integrated PV.

Video and graphics processing (rendering, animation, etc..) Require professional-level purchasing of specialized VC (3D Labs Wildcat, NVIDIA Quadro, ATI FireGL etc..) Which are more expensive than regular minutes.

Those wishing to purchase a move towards multi-purpose card type cards “All-In-One” produced by ATI, which can be used both for desktop applications or for processing as well as video games or watching TV on a computer monitor.
