Sometimes, when you are sending your visitors away, they will attract more users to your site. This is a bit odd, don’t you think? How come this can happen? If you are sending the visitors away, then it is clear that you will not see them for the rest of your site’s life, so how can you say that they will bring even more visitors to your site?
Well, thanks to WordPress and the Blogroll feature available on this platform, this is possible. Pay attention because this article doesn’t teach you how to use the Blogroll, nor how to install it. This is already installed when you start using WordPress; it has the form of a widget, that simply must to be dragged from the multitude of widgets available in the Dashboard of your blog. You have to drag it to the sidebar to activate it. It is simple to drag it and to insert links from your friends there.
Today I will show you how effective is to use a Blogroll, filled with popular blogs that have a high page rank. If you have a friend that runs a blog with a page rank of 4, now it’s the time to get even more friendly with him, because this collaboration will get you success. I don’t know about your friend, but definitely to you the collaboration will be successful.
If the friend has only 4 links in his blogroll, then the collaboration with you and your site with a page rank of 0 might not be successful at all. In fact, because he has only 4 friends and you would be the 5th friend, the success of his site might be reduced due to the collaboration with a lower site, in terms of popularity and number of visitors.
But on the other hand the friend could have 100 links in his blogroll, and a collaboration with you that have a page rank of 0 for your site, will not change a bit the configuration in the sites top. He can still be at the number 5000 in his country, with a page rank of 4. Or he might get down to the number 5400, but maintaining the page rank. This can happen also if the site increases its value, for example it goes to number 4700 and has a page rank of 4. The page rank is influenced by many things, not only by the clicks performed by the visitors, when they check your page. It may be influenced by the popularity of the keywords you choose, by the popularity of your articles, of your posts, of you in fact.
If you are not a popular person in the real life, you get poor chances to be popular online. You have to know how to attract people, thus you will know how to keep them connected almost permanently to what you do and what you write.
By emphasizing those links in the blogroll, your readers can go to other sites that might be interesting and offer them more information than your article or your content does. For example, your site may deal with accounting. If you write an article, obviously the articles dealing with subjects from accounting, you have to place links also related to this subject. If you place links related to carrots, you might confuse the bots that visit your site, who may be tempted to rate your article as being included in a category named let’s say “Vegetables”. This cannot happen if you only link to a single site, emphasizing a single word, such as “carrots”. I just told you this to be able to make the difference between a link in the article or in the post and a link in the blogroll.
So, the article that speaks about a certain topic must provide links related to the same topic. If you write about Alexander the Great, you can provide some links to Wikipedia, so that the people that read your article to find out more about this character, if they do not already know. It is not necessary to write by your own the history of Alexander the Great, to be sure that the people who read you understood the whole picture. You can add a link to Wikipedia and the problem is solved and the readers more informed.
It is ok also in the article before to add links towards “history”, in which to explain what in fact is the history, from what year to what year the history lasts, are we living in the history and things like that. It is not wrong since the terms are very related.
But with the blogroll, the situation is different. You can place about any link you want, as long as they are your friends. If the page towards which you create a link has a page rank of 0, and you have a page rank of 6, it is your own responsibility and your own decision to make a collaboration like this. Some collaborations between sites are made between those sites that belong to the same company. For example, if a company has a site of online games, then it may present links towards all the sites that are in its responsibility in the same blogroll. It doesn’t matter that the page rank of their sites is low, they simply want to emphasize that they have other sites as well and you may visit them.
If you like a Website so much, you don’t have to make a link exchange in order to use the link. You may simply add the link to your blogroll. Still, it is recommended to tell the owner of that site that you are using its link. More about WordPress tomorrow. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to post your articles on WordPress. Someday, they can make you famous!
