Twitter Says No To Third-Party Applications

On Friday, Twitter released the news according to which third-party app developers will not be able to reproduce a Twitter mainstream experience on Websites. This is why those who build apps that mimic the Twitter client experience will be doomed to destruction. PCMag reported today that this could be also the faith of Echofon or TweetDeck, which rely with all their forces on the features of Twitter.

The main reason for which Twitter does that is that they want to be the most important provider of Twitter services and applications. They want to be found on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, whatever, important is that the service to be provided by Twitter and not by Twitter in collaboration with another company.

So, next time when you will get a plugin who will present the tweets from your Twitter account, think again, because that manufacturer of the plugin might not be a partner of Twitter and if Twitter just said that the third-party apps are not allowed, this will be considered a bad move. If you want to display your tweets on your site, you should contact directly the main company.

Twitter updated their terms of service and it is no doubt that applications that rely on presenting tweets on the sites that use these plugins or extensions, will have to reconsider the features of their apps, otherwise they will not receive API support for their apps. On this list, there are a lot of software developers, most of them offering these apps for free. You can get the best experience of Twitter if you use Twitter, this is the idea thet can be cut from the point of view of the company’s spokespersons. If you want to see what is happening on Twitter, you should enter Twitter and don’t rely on the sites that show you the activity on Twitter. Who knows, perhaps this is not updated or perhaps you don’t see that well the profile pictures of those who comment and so on. In a way, it is good that Twitter wants to control the whole buzz that their company created, but it is bad for all these developers who tried to provide nice apps for their users and now they will be forced to re-write the codes so that the apps to respect the Twitter’s new policy.
