In this game, you will have to discover the truth about the Crystal Portal, an item that her father could have been discovered while he was away in his own adventures. The game has an intriguing storyline and it is a thrilling escape for you and your kinds, or at least this is the description provided by the manufacturers of this game. The original storyline allows you to travel into many locations and to see probably some images that you could not see in a regular life.
When the game starts, we discover that Nicole is not an archeologist, like her father, but she works at a small paper in New York. Her father’s name is Robert. He was supposed to meet him in a speciffic location, but he is not there. They have been spoken on the phone before this meeting to happen and at the phone, Robert told his daughter that he had discovered something that could change the course of the humanity. But he is 6 hours late. He is never late, so the woman decides to investigate more this disappearance of her father.
So, she goes to his place and rings at the door bell, but no one answers. What could it be wrong? How come no one is at home? He was supposed to be at home… In order to get in, you have to find the key to his house. The key to the house is inserted into the mail box. Of course, Nicole knows that because she is his daughter, but you are a game player and you can’t tell where the key is placed. In fact, I must admit that I was very glad receiving help from the computer. You can get help only when you are at the beginning, not during the entire game. You are directed by some lights towards several locations that can be investigated with more attention for the benefit of the game.
In order to continue the game, you must click on the mail box. Of course, you don’t know that, but you cannot help of noticing that you see a little hand when you move the cursor above the mail box. When you click on the mail box, you will see that four circles appear around the mail box. These are the items that you have to find in order to open the mail box. Among them, there are a nail and a screwdriver. Those are placed around his house. Luckily for you, Nicole is a smart girl and she gets those items pretty quickly. In fact, this is not even a level of the game or a chapter. This is an entry level, if I can say that. The true level starts when you enter the old man’s house. Ok, so you have found all the items required by the game and you have managed to open the mail box. What do you think you find inside the box? A key, obviously. With this key, you may go to the door and then open it.
But when you enter the house, you realise that the chamber was entered by someone else before you. And here I am not referring to your father, but to a criminal who broke into your father’s house, while he wasn’t there. Or perhaps he was and he kidnapped him, who knows. This is up to you to discover.
So, this is the first level, where you have to discover more hiddent objects. This is not a normal puzzle game, because in a puzzle game, the items that you cannot find are written at the bottom of the screen, some of them being written in a color and others in other color. This means that some of the items needs special operations before you end reaching to them. In a level of this game however, you are not told any of the items that you have to find out.
At the bottom of the screen you can see three question marks. This means that you will be requested to find three items that contain something inside of them or that are important in the continuation of the game. In this first level, you have to discover three items like the mail box from the entry level of the game. To do that, you have to take your mouse and walk the mouse over the entire surface of the game to see where is the little hand. You will see the hand in two areas of the game. The third area will be available after you reveal the items and the hidden objects that are needed by those two items before the third one. In other words, you can find an object let’s say, who can be moved, so you realise that it is good for something, but you cannot see where to place it, because you can’t find another location where the computer to show a little hand. This means that you first have to discover the first two items and their objects and only that to move to the third item.
This situation can be expressed in another way as well. You may click on an item and the computer to tell you that it is not the right item for what you need to reveal what is hidden inside another item which you must unveil to the world. But after you unveil it, you will have to unveil another one. As I said, in this first level, you have to reveal only 3 items, each and every one of them will provide you another key or perhaps another item that will help you to carry on with the game. But you may find the situation in which you click on an item needed for the third object that must be revealed and the computer to tell you that it is wrong.
Still, when the third location of the third item is revealed by the little hand, those items that are needed for its unveiling suddenly become active. And when you click once again on that item which was considered wrong to click on, it becomes movable and you can take it and place it in its location, near the third object that you have to reveal.
