SimCity Deluxe for iDevices

My previous article on SimCity concerned the sequel number 4, released in 2003, which was still on top after years. One more reason and in the same time, evidence, to state that city building and management games have become classical. The new creation released by EA is in fact a re-make of the old SimCity for the interactive iDevices, as IPhone and iPod Touch. Not much has changed in the inner structure of the game, just the appealing will be different. Thanks to your iDevice, you have more freedom of game play.

As usual, your job in SimCity, either we are speaking about SimCity Deluxe or an early sequel, is to build a city and to manage it. The idea of producers is that it`s not sufficient to have some bricks gathered together, you have to know to be a mayor too. One of my friends got a sweet-serious joke about this game: it`s a course of being a local politician. In fact, you won`t do politics, but you will be involved in the community, that you have just created.

The SimCity` pattern goes like this: you increase the number of the city`s populace as much as you can, you start housing, doing commerce and industry, you assure supply and water power stations, you design roads and public transport and don`t forget about the most delicate part of all, the taxes and other metropolitan fees. You are the creator of a true city with true mechanism, so do your best for a good leadership.

Some game editors didn`t receive warmly this game, criticizing EA for “shrinking” a PC game into an iPod and this, without fine touches. It looks that the screen of an iDevice is too small for SimCity`s interface and you will get the feeling of something missing in the background, of not seeing a crane at its real dimensions. Only the price could erase this unpleasant effect, for just 4 EUR, you can forget about the “cut” game, that you are playing for killing some time.

Well, if you are in the mood of destroying, as a result of a nervous crisis, check SimCity Creator available for Nintendo DS, for the moment. This sequel also offers you the possibility of tearing apart something, despite the work of architect, so it could be fun sometimes to do the inverse way of the game.

In addition, the last sequel, that I mentioned, can deliver you a déjà-vu, that I bet you will love. Do you remember Ages of Empires, game in which you had to lead a nation through history, from ancient times to space age? “SimCity Creator” copies this pattern, but added to the world of cities only. Beside this feature of making history and getting evolved from point of view technological, with this game, you can make picture of your city and posted on social networks. Quite interactive, isn`t it? Too bad, that this sequel isn`t very known, probably because it`s a little bit expensive. If you are looking for a free city management, Facebook waits your attention with Social City.
