Samsung releases teaser site for Galaxy Tab

While most manufacturers keep boasting their ‘soon-to-be’ released tablets running Android, Apple can only leap for joy because the iPad has nearly 100 percent of the market share and keeps selling massively in all areas where it was released. Android fans like me keep hoping that manufacturers would learn to talk less and do more to actually get their products released. As nice as the iPad may be, it doesn’t hurt to have more options when you’re considering to buy a certain type of device and this Apple domination is slowly starting to become tiresome. It looks like Samsung, one of Apple’s top competitors when it comes to smartphones, is finally close to releasing the highly-anticipated Galaxy Tab. This would make Samsung the first to release a competitor for the iPad. How do I know that the Galaxy Tab is close to getting a proper introduction? With the help of the new teaser site that just went live. The presentation also partially confirms the specs that became available initially as rumors.

So let’s see what we’ve found out so far with the help of the video on the teaser site. It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Tab will sport Android 2.2 also known as Froyo and it will be equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen. Users who were complaining about the iPad being too big can soon try this Android alternative out and see whether they like it, until Apple releases its own highly rumored 7 inch version of the iPad.

The Galaxy tab will also come with HD movie playback, full web browsing, video calling capabilities and augmented reality. On top of that its future users will also get GPS navigation. We’re still waiting to find out what camera it will include and whether it will feature an e-book reader (though it most likely will). Swype should also be included as well as support for Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1. According to previous rumors the Galaxy Tab should also feature a 1Ghz ARM 11 or ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1.2Ghz and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

The trailer on the teaser site goes to show that Samsung did really come up with a very promising tablet which might snag quite a large percentage of market share from Apple’s precious product. Those who are interested in additional details, or who want to see the teaser web site with their own eyes can do so by following this link. In the trailer Samsung also mentions that the tablet will be officially introduced on September 2. But the manufacturer didn’t offer any information regarding the actual availability of its latest product or the price tag. The price tag, as you may have guessed, will make all the difference in the world and I hope Samsung is fully aware of this. If the Galaxy proves to be considerably cheaper than the iPad then most customers who want to save up on some money and still get a high performance tablet computer will most likely select the Android-variety in favor of the iOS one. In the meantime, all we can do is wait until the beginning of September to find out more about the first iPad rival to hit the market.
