Sales Of Tablets And E-Readers On The Rise
It seems that this year, the gifts of choice for the adults were the e-readers and tablet computers. According to some studies, the number of adults from the United States of America who own an e-reader and a tablet has doubled from mid-December to January.
The book seller stated that they expected an increase in e-book sales after the holidays, and they did. The same thing happened in 2010, as the popularity of the e-books increased a lot after Christmas. Pew Research Center, the company which conducted the review, discovered that the number of adults who own a tablet computer increased from 10 percent to 19 percent. The same increase occurred in the case of the adults who have e-readers.

That was a big difference, especially since in the middle of 2011 into the autumn, the sales of e-readers and tablets stalled. It seems that people who bought the tablets were highly educated ones, who have an income of $75,000 plus. The report also stated that almost 30 percent of the people who have college degrees have a tablet computer. Women bought more e-books than men did, and that was expected, as women usually buy more books than men do.
The survey took place between November and December, 2,986 people participating to it. In January, 2,008 adults with ages 18 and older participated to the study. Both of the studies revealed the same fact.
It is believed that the reasons why the sales of e-readers and tablets increased, is because of the latest Nook tablets, the Kindle Fire, and of the other similar devices. Many people bought the Apple iPad which costs $500, but the tablets from Amazon and Barnes $ Noble as well. These ones have a price of $250. The black and white e-readers cost less than $100.

Lee Rainie, director of the Internet and American Life Project stated that the publishers put more effort in the e-books, in the applications for the e-readers, and so on, and that could be one of the reasons why they are so popular.
