Review AdBlock 2.1.12

Google giant is celebrating today its twelfth anniversary and looking back we can see lots of great accomplishments. One of the most recent ones if Google Chrome, which is a quite good and appreciated web browser many people use regularly. But, just like televisions, these browsers have to survive somehow if we, the users, do not pay a fee to use them. So they support ads that are paid by different companies. I usually don’t mind ads and I hardly see them now on the side of each web site page, but some of them really annoy me: the ones that cover your whole page if you accidentally hover your mouse cursor over them. They keep the screen busy for fifteen seconds and do not allow you to keep doing your activity, which drives me insane. I just have to wait for the whole ad to run and I am not at all interested in it. So the fact that now there are certain software applications that can block this kind of ads is very good news to me.

AdBlock 2.1.12 is one such application that works as a plug-in for Google Chrome and prevents the ads from running on this particular web browser. The application is developed by some guy called Gundlach who initiated it and then developed it little by little, getting now at version 2.1.12, which is the latest one. However, on the last day of September he will launch a new improved version called 2.1.13.

AS you can see from the screenshot, this application is very simple and easy to use, but still offers you the possibility to make choices and to check the exact features that disturb you and you want removed from the browser when you are using it. You can block the ads permanently, but you can also let them run in the background, without popping up. Or you can manually choose which ad you want removed after having a chance to take a look at all the ads on the web page.

This new version brings interesting features like the possibility to translate the application in different languages and also to have the ad blocked from the start instead of simply removing it after it already appeared. The localized right click text in the menu is also a brand-new features that you can enjoy. It is connected to the Internet, so it updates in an automatic way, bringing the new features to the browser, making Internet surfing a lot more fun and less annoying. This software utility has only 342 KB in size and is compatible with all Windows versions and you can easily download it, install it and use it any time you want to. Of course you must have Google Chrome installed first if you want AdBlock 2.1.12 to work perfectly fine. It is freeware, so feel free to use it, but if you are satisfied, you can send a few bucks to the developer in order to keep him motivated.
