Red-hot iBUYPOWER Paladin XLC boasts extreme cooling

Gaming desktop and laptop maker iBuyPower has recently announced the release of its latest gaming tower, the Paladin XLC. Now, the best thing about a gaming-centered desktop computer is the way it looks. We’ve seen things look like predators and we’ve definitely seen other casings look like aliens, some being amazingly good looking while others a bit off the top to be honest. While looks don’t do anything when it comes to actually using a computer, one of the most important things for gaming rigs is definitely the cooling system. Cooling is also one of iBuyPower’s main advantages. The company’s XLC (extreme Liquid cooling) systems are among the top available on the market. The new Paladin XLC tower now comes in a unique Red Phantom chassis which can handle up to 7 fans (including 200mm, single 230mm/200mm, triple 120mm and front 140mm fans) as well as more hardware than you’ve ever imagined including up to 24GB of RAM, triple SLI/crossfire video cards and up to 7 hard drives.

“Our XLC line systems are designed to be pushed to their edge and demand advanced cooling solutions like the Asustek dual radiator and sophisticated cases like the Phantom, with its extensive cooling options,” said iBuyPower executive VP Darren Su, in a statement. “We put each XLC system through extensive stability testing prior to shipping to ensure the highest performance possible.”

Of course, people interested in buying a Paladin XLC will get to fully customize the system. iBuyPower is currently offering it with a choice of Intel Core i7 processors, including quad-core and six-core models running between 2.8 and 3.33 GHz, the top choice being Intel Core i7 980X Processor Extreme Edition (6x 3.33GHz/12MB L3 Cache). The Paladin also ships with up to 24GB of RAM and offers a huge selection of graphics card options (both Nvidia and ATI) and motherboards. Since iBuyPower actually makes custom computers, you’ll get to choose much more than the processor, memory and graphics.

Other options include HD audio, Ethernet, hard drive as well as SSD options, various optical drive options (including DVD and Blu-ray and you may even pick a blue or orange optical drive if you want it that way), power supply of your choice up to 1500 watts, USB expansion systems, noise reduction kits, case lighting and more. Every time I hear someone saying that a laptop can be used for gaming quite well, and then I run across all the options a desktop offers for about the same price, I can’t help but wonder if gaming laptops should still be considered a good option, even if they’ve evolved a lot.

The starting price for the Paladin XLC is $1495, but assuming your budget allows it, you definitely won’t stop at that price. For those who take their gaming very seriously, a higher configuration sporting the Core i7 980X processor, Asetek 570LX Liquid CPU Cooling System with Dual Radiator- 2x Standard 120mm Fan, 12GB of DDR3 RAM 1600, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 – 1.2GB – SLI Mode (Dual Cards), a 1200 watt Thermaltake power supply and the brand new shiny red casing should cost you about $4409. Black and white versions of the Paladin will become available next month. Customers who wish to increase the overclocking capacity of their desktop can do so to 30 percent with the help of iBuyPower who is now offering a Power Drive Overclocking service.

  1. this is a clever blog. I mean it. You have so much understanding about this issue, and so much appreciation. You also know how to make persons move behind it, obviously from the responses. Youve got a design here thats not too flashy, but makes a statement as big as what youre saying. Great job, indeed.
