Polaroid has released a great new gadget: a portable printer you can get anywhere, which gets you out of trouble when you need to make a photo in a very specific environment and your smartphone won’t capture the exact nuances that you want from the sunshine. The printer, called Pogo (Polaroid on the Go) can print the picture in a minute and is compatible with most cameras and 70% of Bluetooth phones currently available on the market. It is better to use it with cameras than phones, because digital cameras are created for photos and the phones are made especially for talking. Connect the USB cable in which case you get rid of wires, and you can print the photo in an instant.
The printing is done using Zink technology (Zero Ink), which does not require ink cartridges, which means that you have solved the problem of changing the cartridge every time when it is consumed. The importance here is not given by the ink, but by the special paper that contains billions of colorless dye crystals that change their color in contact with heat. That means not only that you do not need a cartridge, but as soon as the photo is “dried”, it will come out of the printer. Your photos will be water-proof, resistant to scratches, will not fade over time, will not break and will have an adhesive back so if you want, you can stick them anywhere.
The photo size is pretty small, about the size of a credit card. It’s understandable, considering the size of the printer, only 7.2 x 12 x 2.4 cm. After two hours of charging, the printer can print about 15 pictures, but it can only hold 10 sheets of special paper, which means that after 10 printed pictures, you will have to reload the paper.
