Online Anonymity=Cowardice Or Not?

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO said that the online anonymity is equal to cowardice, since those who use this practice ar not strong enough to recognize that they have made a statement. This is what I think as well. It is like when you vote and instead of voting pro or against something, you abstain from voting. I am not referring to those who do not elect their presidents or mayors. I am talking about those who are in parliament or in a high forum, where they are responsible for the lives of many people. And if you abstain, when you are supposed to vote, it is in my opinion an act of cowardice and those people should be banned from making a statement from then on.

I like what a teacher of mine said once: “Those who have no opinion whatsoever, do not count”. If you want to comment on a blog post, on an article, site or whatever, when you are online, you should provide your name, your real name, if you want the people to know that you made that statement. You can add the name of your site if you would like to promote yourself even more than just writing your name.

According to telegraph.co.uk, Cristopher Poole, the founder of 4chan, does not agree with Mark Zuckerberg and with people who think like him, saying that the online anonymity is not equal to cowardice, the people being able to select if they want to have an opinion connected to their name or not. The company led by Cristopher Poole was founded in 2003 as a site dedicated to those who enjoyed the Japanese comics, who wanted to share photos with those characters. Soon, the site became one where the people could share all kinds of images, not only Japanese comics photos.

Regarding this controvercy, what do you think? Is it necessary for those who write comments online to write their name as well or to connect via a social network, so that the site to see who they are, or they simply should have to comment without leaving a trace that they commented on the site? I now this involves a long talk, but try to express what you feel in a few words.
