Nimbuzz for Android now available

Just in case you’ve never heard of it, Nimbuzz is a mobile social communications platform that combines instant messaging, contacts, location and VoIP calling. Let’s see then why Nimbuzz is such a great application.  As multiple companies reported, most people use the internet for social networking and instant messaging. The only problem is that most users have quite a few accounts on various services like Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, AIM, ICQ or Myspace, to name a few. Now, if you’re using a computer, you can easily log on to each and every one of them. On a mobile phone that’s a bit harder to do. Nimbuzz displays all of your online friends from all of the above social networking sites on the same page. You can talk to any of them, message them or call. You may also send and receive pictures.

Well, Nimbuzz has just announced the availability of the software for smartphones running the Android operating system. The 2.0 version of the popular Android VOIP application also offers cheap international calling.

A new dialer tab was included allowing the user to call mobile phones and landlines via NimbuzzOut, SkypeOut or any of Nimbuzz’ SIP partners (the list includes Google, Sipgate, Xeloq, T-Pad, VoiPax, Gulfsip, IPS, Badatel and more). Friend suggestions will let you know which phonebook contacts are already using Nimbuzz.

Now let’s move on to the Facebook Connect feature. This particular feature makes sure that you’re using Facebook’s official API to connect to the chat of the popular networking site. This has several benefits. First off you won’t get any kind of disconnection error. Secondly the security of data transferred is greatly improved. Finally users of Nimbuzz will be able to see the status message of Facebook friends and can use their regular Facebook username to login instead of an e-mail address.

The conclusion is simple. Android is constantly evolving. Android mobile phones now make up for about 33 percent of sales in the US so it’s only natural that developers become interested in Google’s operating system. After all, if the user wants Android, the application developer will have to come up with something for that platform, or whichever platform is the most popular at that moment. This is also, perhaps, the reason why Apple’s app store has until now been filled with a ton of applications whereas Android users had a slightly smaller selection to chose from.

So, if Nimbuzz sounds interesting, you can now find the 2.0 version of the application available for download on the Android Market for free. You may also download it via your mobile browser or computer from the Nimbuzz website here. If you like what Nimbuzz offers yet you don’t own an Android phone, it might be useful to know that the application is also available for Symbian, iPhone, iPod touch, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, J2ME, as well as Windows and Mac desktop computers.
