Today JVC has announced the release of two new pocket camcorders. The two new additions to JVC’s Picsio line are dubbed GC-WP10 and GC-FM2. Both of them feature Full HD video, excellent low-light performance and a three-inch touch screen for easy operation and playback. The three inch touch screen comes with on-screen graphics for shooting and playback controls. It also includes the 4x digital zoom. Touch screen functions were designed in such a way that they can easily be operated even with gloves on, assuming you’re taking the camera outside during winter.
With the help of Picsio’s CMOS image sensor, the two camcorders are perfectly capable of capturing still images at up to 5 megapixel native resolution without interpolation. Still, the video recording might be more interesting for most users. The same sensor can record up to 1920 x 1080p/30 fps Full HD video with
image stabilization. The video content can then be enjoyed on a HDTV through the camera’s HDMI output. Users can also select from four different recording resolutions which includes Full HD 1080 (which I’ve mentioned before), D 720 (1280 x 720/60p), iFrame (960 x 540/30p) and Quarter High Definition (960 x 540/30p).
Users will be able to store as much content as they want depending on the size of the memory card they choose. The two new Picsio cameras come with memory card slots that support SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The slots are also optimized for Eye-Fi cards, which means that the user can upload and share files easily and quickly, through a wireless network. Compared to the less-expensive GC-FM2, The WP-10 throws in two extra features. First of all, the WP-10 is waterproof and can be used up to 10 feet/3 meters under water as well as when it’s heavily raining outside. Secondly, it also offers a MP3 audio recorder which can capture any kind of audio you want. On the
other hand, the GC-FM2 offers a slide-out USB connector which eliminates the need for an USB connecting cable. Despite this, JVC went ahead and included an USB cable anyway. Because both models from JVC recharge through USB, as soon as you’re done transferring files to your computer, you may be ready to go out again and record more video.
For easy editing and uploading, users will also get LoiLoScope EX for Windows . This software will launch as soon as the camera is connected to any PC and allows direct uploading to YouTube, Facebook or exporting to iTunes. It also includes a high number of special effects for creative editing. JVC ensured that editing is done easily, by providing software with simplified icon-based access and intuitive drag and drop operation for the special effects. Both of JVC”s new cameras also work with iMovie on Mac computers. They can even recordvideo in the IFrame format which works with compatible Mac and PC applications.
If you were impressed by JVC’s latest pocket camcorders, you’ll be able to find the GC-FM2 starting early September, for $ 179.95, while the GC-WP10 will start shipping at the end of the same month, and it will cost $199.95.
