Those who write, whether they do it for pleasure or because they work as a journalist, have to be inspired when starting to write. The best way to get inspired is to create the perfect environment that will help your words come out more easily than in other situation they would do that.
A myth about writing says that at first you have to be very attentive about what you write and write about a single subject or at least 2 or 3, no more, in order to create a niche. This is true, but not quite. You have to find the thing that you love to write most, but how can you find it if you write only about one single thing? A good writer has to try more at the beginning of his career. How can you know what is your true vocation if you write only about a single thing? Aren’t bored by it? No, really, I cannot write only about video games. Luckily for me, I have more categories in which to use my knowledge and my creativity. I have seen sites that speak only about a certain subject and they have pages and pages of information. I wonder where they get their inspiration from.
When you get the opportunity to write, don’t blow it. If you want to get paid for this and you still haven’t find the right employer, you can select your job offers, but at first I advice you to not be so selective, because you may lose important positions, that will bring you in a year or even less important benefits.
The mith about writing that I always consider wrong is to work as an online journalist only for the pleasure of writing. If you have a blog, you can write for pleasure there, but if you are considered a journalist, never take a job that is volunteer just to make a good impression. There is no volunteer work at a magazine. You are not working for the UN to say that you are a volunteer. You are working for a magazine, unpaid. If you are still in college, this could be acceptable, but what are you going to do when you will see that you cannot afford to go to a soda with your girlfriend, you will be able to buy her a Valentine gift and others?
You should thus accept only jobs that are paid and try no to sell yourself too cheap. This is another mistake. If you have a wage on a current workplace and the interviewer asks you about the wage, they will offer you the same wage or a bit higher, but only a bit. In this way, you will never manage to go on vacantions, buy an expensive painting, buy 5 books a month, besides taking care of other expenses and so on.
Another mith that many of our young bloggers “buy” is to lose their inspiration, creativity too early. When I say “young blogger” I don’t mean “age”. Young may be a person of 50 who just started a blog. Instead of whining that you have lost your inspiration, you could try to revive it. Follow the rules I mentioned in my first article of today and gain your inspiration back.
