“One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”…From Neil Armstrong`s greatest achievement, everything related to Moon and human research on Earth`s satellite has somehow received a nuance of glory, mystery, evanescence, call it as you please.
Moon is more than a satellite, that spins around the Earth, for Mankind the celestial body took the place of a Queen, Mother of Life or sometimes associated with malefic changes, as those of werewolves. Not to mention that Science Fiction narrators, who were seeing in lunar surface a possibility of creating human colonies. Moon has been sung into poetry and novels and it was obvious that it will pass to into entertainment field too. When I was a kid, I used to watch some cartoons presenting feminine fighters for truth, so I wasn`t quite surprised to figure out that currently there is a game for those who would like to land on Moon too.
“Moonbase Alpha” was created to fulfill your most secret desire of being an astronaut. It`s like a virtual course where you learn how to step on lunar surface, how to balance the weight of your body, how to breathe correctly into your mask of oxygen, how to organize efficiently all your things into a room, which doesn`t have much to do with the gravity of home, planet Earth. It`s quite funny and also tremendous to play this game.
The producers of “Moonbase Alpha” claim that`s a game about learning technologies and if you peek a little bit on the official page you will notice from the trailer that the game really has something to do with professional NASA expeditions. It`s said that “Moonbase Alpha” will offer you realistic astronautic exploration scenarios, 3D graphic for a better sense of reality, options of solo or team play, VOIP chat (if you are in a team) an other features of communication. Today, 6th July, it was its first day in games industry and I bet this game will make history among those who are attractive by adventure and futuristic themes.
The entire plot is still kept under silence, but from the same site, you can stir your curiosity with a single idea of what the virtual astronauts have to do: restore critical systems and oxygen levels after the impact of a meteor nearby the base.
Even the name itself sound a little bit futuristic and so risky: Alpha is the beginning of everything in Universe, according to Greek philosophical point of view. I`m very curious to know whether is to be continued by a second version or by rival, which will be the Omega, meaning the end?!
Until that moment, enjoy your trailer and feel at ease to jump through the air with your heavy gravitional costume.
