Mistakes On Facebook

This could refer to any other social network, and of other kinds of sites, for example, like Twitter, which is not considered a social network, but a micro-blogging network. Whatever, it has the same purpose, of connecting the people, that’s why you must be attentive what do you say, when you’re online.

Here, I have chosen some of the mistakes I considered relevant for my presentation, which are specific to Facebook. They can be applied to other networks as well, but they are specific to Facebook. You will se why.

First of all, don’t speak bad things about no one, not even when using the private messages. You don’t know who are you talking to. That person can be your best friend, but when he will have the chance of destroying you, he will. Trust me, for money and for a better position, if this involves more money, they will do anything.

Don’t spy on your children online! This is a rule that I wanted to be emphasized, because there are more and more people, who complain about their parents, disguised in teenagers, harass them. They are even reported as person that bully their own sons or daughters. If you are a parent and have a teenager girl or boy, and you haven’t raised them right, don’t expect to listen to you. You will never be, nor know the language used by the teenagers today.

The child will eventually find out that you are his mom or dad (usually the women disguise themselves as being younger girls or why not boys) and will lose the confidence that he had in you, if he had. If you want to be a wrong example, then make an account on Facebook (a fake one) and try to spy on your children. Try to keep in mind that whatever you might do, you can’t protect the child forever. It would have been better to learn the child how to protect by himself, not to make him dependent on you, if you are a parent.

If you don’t know English, then Facebook might not be for you. You have to get accustom to few things when going online. How to set the account, how to upload pictures and so on. How to choose your friends, that’s a good one. And try to keep in mind that when you want to share something with the rest of the world, you have to press the “Share” button and when you want to transmit a personal message, you click the photo or name of that person to which you want to send the message and then you have the option “Send message” or “Poke”.

Go for the “Send message”, so in this way, your message will be privately enough not to let other people to see it (except hackers perhaps, although Facebook is told to have a good security).

I read about a young woman, who instead of saying in a private message, destined to the one who made her feel good the night before the message, that he is invited all the time to do that again, she wrote the message on her wall or on his wall, I couldn’t tell from the picture. Anyway, it was an embarrasing moment for her and for the rest of the people that read the message and knew her as their friend or something. Comments like: “Everybody knows you got laid last night” started to appear immediately. The thing which is even more embarrasing is that the person didn’t know how to erase the message.

This is why I am telling you to learn a few basic tricks, if I can name them in this way. How to send a private message, how to delete one, how to stop someone from sending messages, how to participate in groups, how to take part to a new discussion, to solve puzzles and so on.

Another mistake mentioned a girl, I won’t give her name, who said that Africa is one of the countries in the world who don’t offer universal health care. Well, that’s interesting. And another girl who said that Al Qaeda is a person. Anyway, she was not sure if this is a person or a country. But she asked this question to receive some answers.

You should not tell on Facebook that you are preparing a surprise birthday party, if that person is your friend on Facebook. Don’t correct other people’s spelling mistakes. They might do that for some reasons, in order to be cool, special, I don’t know, just don’t correct them. This is not considered morally on Facebook, you will seem that you are not a part of the gang or something. This doesn’t mean that you have to start to make mistakes just to be cool. Trust me, you are cool when you say wise words on the Internet. Remember what I said at the beginning, your future employer could be on Facebook and these days they are and when he or she sees how you write and spell, well, this might not be that good for you. Anyway, he will contact you in the future. Meanwhile, your name and resume will remain in their database. I am sure you heard that phrase many times.

Try to obey the rules before and when you see a mistake on Facebook, try to let us know, so that we can write new articles in which everybody to see what there is to be done or not, when posting online.
