Microsoft and Dell, who not a single time worked together to provide the performance, now announced they are going to deliver equipments and software programs to improve the technology found in the community hospitals. Analytics, informatics and business intelligence solutions will be offered by these companies in order to help the health care system in the United States.
One of the solutions offered by they refer to Microsoft Amalga, a technology which is based on a health intelligence platform combined with the cloud computing infrastructure coming from Dell. This was announced at the HIMSS conference on Tuesday. HIMSS stands for Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. The new technology will be used on Stellaris system, a health network system, which is headquartered in New York and includes hospitals like Northern Westchester Hospital, White Plains Hospital and Lawrence Hospital Center. These hospitals are among the first who will serve as foundation for this technology to develop. They are the lucky ones in my opinion, since they have been selected to be a part of this project. We don’t know what are the conditions in which these hospitals were selected, but we know that these need a consolidated patient data from IT systems.
The decisions the management staff will take from now on will be better informed, since they are relying on a system which allows better clinical and financial decisions. The first application which was developed to help the health care system is Quality Indicator System, which along with the Stellaris platform will help the hospitals to report the data as it is asked by the Medicare and Medicaid Services Center. New requirements are also mandated by the ARRA, according to the law in 2009, which asks the hospitals to report according to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
It is good that two companies joined their forces to make this happen, one of them being known for delivering mainly software programs and the other one for producing computers and mobile devices. If you take one of the best software manufacturers and one of the best hardware producers, you will get an alliance which will definitely help the economy if the United States, because the technology will help the hospitals to take the best financial decisions, based on the data they receive when using this system. It was about time to improve the system in the hospitals that are dedicated to community services, not only in the private hospitals, where not everyone has the money to go. The name of the entire system provided by the IT companies is SaaS Analytics System.
