“Medal of Honor” is one of the game, that you will love, for the simple fact that it`s a controversial one.
For “Medal of Honor”, EA decided to go back in time, during the World War II and to make you a soldier. In this game you will play as a first-person shooter, feature that will probably bother you. Another bad point, that I observe about this game, seeing the screenshots, is that the faces of soldiers aren’t very well designed. Personally, I consider that producers focused more, maybe too much on backgrounds, which in fact look quite realistic, but left a little bit aside the faces of characters, who look more like paintings than like real men. And believe me, when I read somewhere that the game was created by Steven Spielberg, I couldn`t come back from my shock: is he getting a little bit old?! Anyhow, this is my first impression, if you consider otherwise, please let me know.
In “Medal of Honor”, you will play the role of Allied, a Tier 1 soldier, combating in World War II. The backgrounds look so alike as those of Afghanistan, so you will have a sensation of déjà-vu for sure. You will be directly selected for United States Armies, as first option. The total impression will be that you are captured into a narrative movie such as “Saving Private Ryan”, but it`s a positive feature, rather than to play as a racist soldier.
The game doesn`t want to test your resistance, but your intelligence in war issues. For instance, you will be sent more in diplomatic missions than in combats on the battlefield. It matters how smart you are to use false papers and to shot with silenced pistols.
The trailer waits for your attention on the official site and has all the assets to conquer your attention, thanks to Linkin Park`s theme. The preparations for combat are emphasized a lot, the nocturnal sequel will test your attention at limit and the medal of honor, that you will attach to your arm, is more than a sign of personal proud, it regards a whole nation.
There`s a scene in this trailer that made me wonder: a grandmother gives to her nephew an old medal of honor, probably belonging to his father dead on battlefield…so what can we understand? That the teenager is forced by a dear remember to go fighting in a war, that doesn’t belong to him? Cruel questions, I know, but the American movie industry has exploited this sensitive nature in other productions, so I think that`s the case of this game too, to print in youth`s minds that war is good, as long it erased the errors of past.
“Medal of Honor” shouldn`t be played by teenagers under 18 years old and it`s available for Xbox 360, starting with this October. If you are a fan of historic war inspired games and you like EA`s style, take your place and preorder your version. A limited edition is available for most loyal fans.
