Malwarebytes Anti – Malware is available in 2 versions: a free one and a full one that costs $24.96. The difference between the two is that the full one offers real time protection, while the free one doesn’t.
Malwarebytes Anti – Malware allows the user to decide the malware programs that will be deleted, will be put into quarantine or ignore them if the user believes the program or application is not dangerous. It includes an additional tool “Fileassassin”, utility that can be used to remove any type of file infected in case you cannot delete it by other methods. It also cleanes infected keys from the Windows registry, files and even viruses active in memory, managing thus to find what often an ordinary anti-virus can’t.
Malwarebytes Anti – Malware works with Windows operating systems – XP / 2000 / Vista / Windows 7 – works very well on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
From the official website of Malwarebytes Anti – Malware besides the free version, which doesn’t provide real – time protection, you can buy and download the Marlwarebytes Anti – Malware Pro version that offers you total and real – time protection, this version is the commercial one and is not free.
To use Malware Anti – Malware you need a minimum:
Processor at 500 MHz, 128 MB RAM memory and 16 MB free disk space.
It is recommended:
Processor at 2.4GHz, 512 MB RAM memory and 32 MB free disk space.
The main features of Malwarebytes Anti – Malware are:
- Quick scan or full scan;
- Removes most viruses, malware, spyware, adware, etc;
- Includes Fileassassin instrument;
- Can be used with other ant- viruses or anti-malwares;
- Allows manual updating for the free version and automatic updating for the pro version;
- Simple and intuitive interface;
- Easy to use application;
- Support for different languages;
- Support for installation / removal, etc.
Malwarebytes Anti – Malware it’s not an antivirus. Firstly this program doesn’t offer real time protection (commercial version does) and secondly it’s oriented / specialized on malware. With the free version it’s obvious that you are responsible for the updating of definitions (third tab, “Update”, click on “Check for updates”) and you must explicitly ask the scanning process (first tab). I don’t see this as something very difficult as long as you use it accidentally, for the situations where you have a suspicious or infected computer.
In this newest version that you can download it from here, it was improved the heuristic method to detect the newest versions of Rogues and spyware, the icon from systray turns gray when the protection is off (for the full version). Alongside SUPERAntiSpyware it’s basically the first line of defense against viruses. I recommend it before you reinstall Windows or make major changes on your computer. It’s the best anti-spyware on the market and along with spyware it successfully detects other types of malware. Detection is quickly added for new threats, and the scanning process is efficient. Since the previous version, Malwarebytes Anti – Malware features IP Protection (just the commercial version) that helps with blocking of IPs known to be suspicious or harming to the PC.
What’s new in Malwarebytes Anti – Malware 1.46:
- The way it blocks websites on Windows Vista and Windows 7 is drastically improved;
- There were fixed some compatibility problems on Windows 2000;
- There were fixed problems with detection of remnants due to an infection;
- It was fixed the problem with freezing the program when a printer is added to the network.11
