Kodak unleashes full-HD Playtouch Camcorder and EasyShare M590 digital camera

For the consumer to find the latest and best technology in stores, manufacturers have to refresh their lineup of products every once in a while. The ones who don’t do this risk to be ignored and lose part of their revenue and customers to manufacturers who got it right and released new products on time. This is why, every couple of months or so, you’ll get to see a bunch of new products of any type released to the market. In this case, Kodak just released four products out of which a full HD pocket camcorder as well as a point and shoot camera, dubbed Playtouch Video Camera and Easyshare M590.

Playtouch is a highly pocket-able camera that features a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen full 1080p HD video recording. The camera also features editing and Kodak’s exclusive Share button, which allows users to easily share their favorite moments with friends and family. As with any non-professional digital camera or camcorded, the user just expects the device to work properly, from the start, meaning that most people aren’t very enthusiastic about setting it or having to

struggle to pull quality video. This is why Kodak also equipped the Playtouch with several highly useful features such as image stabilization, LCD glare shield and an external microphone jack. A built-in USB port paired with the Share button allows users to tag videos and pictures on the camera and automatically upload them to social networking sites once they connect the camera to the computer. This is a nice addition indeed, as you’d expect everything to come with ‘Facebook support’ nowadays. Just choose your favorite video and you can also send it straight to YouTube, for millions of other users to view.

“Kodak has firmly established itself as a leader in the digital pocket video camera space since introducing its line in 2008, and continues to be one of the most highly rated and recommended in this category,” said Phil Scott, Vice President of Marketing, Digital Capture and Devices, Kodak. “We’re committed to providing our consumers with innovative and intuitive products that satisfy their needs. Whether it’s a night out on the town with friends or your child’s school play, the KODAK PLAYTOUCH Video Camera makes capturing and sharing your favorite moments simple and fun.”

Other features of the Playtouch camcorder include : on-camera editing features that allow trimming and extracting still pictures, 5 megapixel HD still pictures, smart face tracking technology, 4 capture effects including black and white, sepia, high saturation and 70’s film look, HDMI output (cable included). The product is compatible with PC and Mac and it will offer about 10 hours of HD video before the battery runs out. It features a SD/SDHC card slot that offers up to 32GB of storage.

The new digital camera we mentioned before, named the Easyshare M590 was announced by Kodak as the world’s thinnest 5x optical zoom digital camera. As you may have guessed, it was designed to pair up nicely with social networking sites which everyone seems to be living on nowadays. Just like in the case of the camcorder presented above, users of the Easyshare M590 will also be able to tap the Share Button and tag the content they want to upload to Facebook, Flickr, Orkot or YouTube.

On top of the pretty exterior and sleek and slim looks, this camera also offers some pretty useful features such as Kodak’s face recognition feature and Smart Capture (who allows shooting better pictures automatically). The M590 also has image stabilization, a 2.7 inch bright LCD with Kodak Color Science technology, HD picture and video capturing capabilities and MicroSD card slot. It will be available in four color options, silver, red, purple and blue.

On top of the two products mentioned above, Kodak also released a PlaySport Video camera, a rugged, waterproof HD pocket video camera that was designed, according to the manufacturer, for adventure seekers, which can capture full HD 1080p even underwater, at up to 10 feet; The Kodak Pulse Digital frame, which is kind of a larger size of frame from the company’s existing award winning Kodak Pulse frame. The new frame is 10 inches in size and features WiFi connectivitu as well as a customizable e-mail address. Whether you want one, or you want to give it as a gift, it’s an ideal choice and it will allow users to keep photos of their family that they can mail from a wide range of devices with e-mail capabilities.

Along with these devices, Kodak also released a handful of accessories to match them. The Kodak Playtouch video camera will be available in Smoke Gaze (Black), Chrome, Wine Country (Magenta), Cabana (Orange) and Spa Blue (Teal) for $229.95 this fall at major retailers or through Kodak’s website. The Kodak Easyshare M590 will become available in around the same period of time with a price tag of $199.95.
