Maybe a PC game will fit their need for more action. “Kid Chameleon” is a relatively new product on the game market, although the graphics- if you were to consider just the cover of the game- might leave the impression that it was launched somewhere in the era of original Teenage Turtles Mutant.
The resemblance with the mutant turtles series is quite obvious: Chinese inspiration, teenage story about getting mature and a lot of kicks. You will be Casey, a restless young who uses masks to change into different characters and so that he can use more abilities during fights.
Indeed, it`s a game about fighting, about gaining justice, but don`t expect to see that much violence as in an alien science fiction production. If you watch one of the trailers, either it`s a newer or a much older version, you will see that the game is about making your way through labyrinths, volcanoes or dark forests and this mission involves kicking some enemies, that vanish in the air, so no trace of blood in there.
“Kid Chameleon” is one of the games that will be promoted by Sega on its wave of Genesis games for PC. With just 3$, you can buy besides this item, games like “Columns” or “Dr. Robotnik`s Mean Bean Machine”, a sort of ever-greens in game industry, played for years by children all over the world.
The game was released in May 2007, for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable and made history, thanks to its inter-textual feature (you speak by a game inside of a game, a spell of postmodernism). So, a new virtual game arrived in town and every kid that played just for a second, disappeared to nowhere. It looks that a bad character, Heady Metal, managed to break the encrypted reality and so to start moving in the real world. His most deep desire was to kidnap every kid that couldn`t beat the game- from this phrase I can understand that this game has to played only by champions of the games, not by any little boys. After all this is the main message also available in the title of the game: an adventure for Kid Chameleon, those who are willing to change things around them, to get adapted to any type of situation.
The game should be re-evaluated just for the sake of the funny characters involved. Of course, they have suffered a Chinese influence and this makes them look unique. Anyhow, I can`t think otherwise than of a funny game, seeing that the crests or the swords of the warriors are bigger than even their hands.
