Is Blogging For Everybody?

At this question the answer is definitely yes! You don’t have to learn things in order to have your own Website. In the past few days and today with the article that I wrote more than one hour ago, I tried to explain how simple it is to create a Website. All the information are presented detailed on the WordPress site and those who want to read more, can check out our tutorials. I presented the information with care for the reader, emphasizing exactly what a reader would want to find out. For example, I have talked in about two articles about the Spectrum theme, developed by Ignacio Ricci and now I will show you how easy is to insert photos and videos into your blog.

You have photos, you have videos on YouTube, right? You have a computer, you can write and you want to create a page on the Internet, something that will be read by your nephews or by your children, many years from now. Then, you are the perfect candidate for blogging. This hobby can make you some money as well, but this is another issue, that is not discussed today.

The photos can be inserted into a post by going to the button next to the Upload/Insert button, selecting the photo and clicking on the button called “Insert into post”. The button that is placed next to the button that allows you to add photos is called “Add Videos” and the ones next to it are: “Add Audio” and “Add Media”.

To add a video, you have to follow these steps. Go to YouTube and select the videon you want to place in your Website, in your post actually. There must be a share button next to the video you see on YouTube. If you can’t find it, look for it more closely. A little window will appear, having the URL of the video. Click that URL, attention not the embed code that appears, but only the URL. Let me give you an example. So, what you should copy looks something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch. After the word “watch” on YouTube, it appears the number of the video. I did not write a number here, because I want it to show only the link.

Go to WordPress and click the button I just mentioned earlier, the button that allows you to add videos. Click on it and see how a new window opens. Click the tab called “From URL”. There, paste the URL code that you have just copied from YouTube. The continuation is that you have to click on Insert into post, like you did when you inserted photos. In your post editor, you will not see the image of that video, nor the video itself, but only the code, the URL code to be precise.

I like WordPress a lot, because they can help you when you need. You are not alone in this, WordPress is with you at every step, making sure that you take all the advantages from using a platform like this. In my opinion, WordPress was born ahead of its time. And the right sentence for which I just said is not “I like” but “I love WordPress”.

There are many social features on WordPress that you can use when you feel that you experience a sort of lack of inspiration or something like this. The use of those features will help you make friends, collaborate with them and discover bloggers, which who knows, might have experienced this also. There is a vibrant community of bloggers on WordPress, there are forums and support areas, where there work people happy to help you at any moment in day or night.

In order to connect to your own community of bloggers, you have to find to which community you belong. For example, you write about christianity. Go and find more people who write about this also. You can find your own community by entering the global network of tags. The tags are words that a user uses to make everybody realise that his post is about carrots. By using the tag “carrot” at the end of the post, everybody in the WordPress community will know that you talked about carrots in that article and you can be the friend of other people who wrote about carrots as well.

If someone looks for the word “carrot” while he or she is in the global network of tags, he or she may find your article, thus he or she may find you. The tags can be found in the lower part of the Dashboard, towards the right. You can use as tags words that are frequently used in the text. Try not to use words too vague or too specific, that only you know. For example, if you have written about carrots, the word “carrot” is the perfect tag. Don’t use “vegetables” or other word that might not attract the users. When you feel that you cannot come up with a great idea, try to think which word would you use in order to reach to an article like the one you just wrote.

The title of my article says “Is blogging for everybody?” I already told you that the blogging is definitely for everybody, because from time to time, we all feel that we lack inspiration. I entered the global network of tags and I saw that the tag number one, of which there are recently over 18000 posts is “news”. The tags that is on the second position is “music” being present in more than 14000 articles. The tag number three is “life”, being present in 10434 recent posts. Of course, these numbers may change and “life” can be the first tag tomorrow. Who knows. You can enter the global network of tags if you click on the next link: http://en.wordpress.com/tags/.

If you feel that you lack inspiration at one moment, as I said everybody does that sometimes, you can click one of your tags from your recent posts and see what other people are saying about this subject. You can find more ideas by simply reading their blogs, not mentioning that you can make some friends or collaborations with them. This can go both ways. People they face a lack of inspiration might look for ideas to write in other people’s blog and they can stumble on your Website. If it is well-written and designed, it will be helpful for others and may even attract the WordPress users as your own visitors. Daily visitors.

You can subscribe to Tag Surfer in order to know what are the most popular tags which are present in the WordPress blogs. This is like an RSS feed, but for tags. That’s it about today. I-ll come back with more information about WordPress tomorrow. Don’t go away!
