For those who always wanted to become a superstar in the writing field, there is a way and it won’t cost you a thing. You have to join the WordPress community and benefit of the advantages of using this site.
To get on WordPress, you have to enter wordpress.com and sign in. if you already have an account, you can use your username and password to login. After this, if you like to change the theme of your blog, you can do this also for free, by selecting one of the 104 available themes on WordPress. Did I mention that these are free as well?
You can go from zero to hero, as they like to say in ten easy steps. You can get started if you enter the WordPress site or if you read this article. I will try to make it short and easy to understand. Considering that right now I am watching the tutorials as they are presented on WordPress, I think my task is an easy one.
You are in the right place. Now you can be a hero in no time. The first thing you need to do is sign up. We have already discussed about this. When you create an account, if the name of the account is not available, the site will tell you this. It is like when you create an e-mail address on Gmail or Yahoo. If the address is already taken by another person, then you have to think at other address. Don’t worry, because there are a lot of addresses for you. If you can’t find anything, WordPress will suggest you some names. The password must be a strong one, in order to not allow hackers to use it. If you don’t have anything yet written on your blog, there are few chances to attract the attention of the hackers, unless you are a specific target of one of them.
You have to associate your account with an e-mail address. Speaking of e-mail addresses, you may use an e-mail address that is not used by yourself in an extensive way or if you use your main e-mail address, to receive notifications and news from WordPress, make sure to download a certain crypting software from CNET, that enables you that everytime when you write a password on a site, you are protected from hackers, because they can’t see what you write, thanks to a crypting algorithm used by this software. It is offered for free. I can’t remember the name, but I know that it is the first one in the list with crypting software programs on CNET. Just give it a try.
You can get only a username from WordPress or a blog, which will have your name and then wordpress.com. You can benefit of an entire domain name, but this is paid. If you don’t want wordpress.com to stay behind your blog’s name, you can select your own domain name and pay accordingly. I believe that it is from 12 to 19 dollars a year or something like this. Correct me if I’m wrong. You have to select also the name of your blog. The majority of the blogs on WordPress are in English, but you can select your own language, if you are not a native English speaker. You can change the language of your site now or later. For example, if you select the site to be in English, you can add a plugin to your site or something, that can translate your blog so that it will be easier to understand for most of the visitors of your site.
Click on the sign up button and go to that e-mail address you provided when you opened the account. You have to activate your account in order to use it. Make sure to do that within a certain period of time, otherwise the account you just created will be erased from the WordPress database. If you do not find the e-mail from WordPress in your inbox, check the spam box, probably the mail is there. There are few chances for the mails coming from WordPress to arribe in the spam box, but this is not impossible. So, check twice your e-mail address. If something goes wrong, you don’t get the message within the 15 minutes let’s say after you have created an account on WordPress, contact the Support team.
It will probably take longer than 15 minutes now for your problem to be solved, but it will be definitely solved. After you login for the first time, you will see the Dashboard of your blog and of course the theme, which can be changed. I already told you that I have changed by Twenty Ten theme with Spectrum, which is a gorgeous theme, full of color and vibrations. I love this theme. Next to a theme like this, you have to create a very good content, to match the theme.
The dashboard is an interface that is seen only by yourself and also by the others who have the right to write on your blog. Of course, you are the only one that has full administration rights over the account. You can give your partners equal rights to your own, or you can lower their rights, for example, you can let them or not to approve the comments, to select the plugins available on your site, to add post, or to delete their own posts. You have all the powers, it is your site, you decide. Ok, now it’s getting late and I have to say more about Dashboard. I will come back in about one hour to tell you more. Meanwhile, let me see the other tutorials on WordPress, so I can tell you the fresh news from this blogging platform directly.
