There are numerous debates about the online privacy, many of the users believing that some of the websites are abusive. On Friday, the Digital Advertising Alliance, a group of digital advertising trade organizations will release its first ad campaign related to a new icon they will release: a turquoise triangle in the upper right-hand corner of the banner ads.
This will be one of the biggest consumer privacy campaigns to date. The White House is expected to prepare a similar report regarding online privacy. Last year, the legislators introduced various bills in Congress, which demanded a tighter digital privacy. They also wanted to protect the children’s online privacy.

Users can click on the turquoise triangle in order to opt out having their online behavior being tracked. It seems that the move is very popular, and that 90 percent of the internet users click the icon.
It is a well-known fact that the online behavior of the users is reflected in the online ads. They visit certain sites, and based on those sites, they see certain ads. What many users do not know is the fact that they can opt out of being targeted for the personalized ads. By clicking on the icon, the users can manage the way in which their privacy is handled, and by controlling the information which the website will collect about them.
The Interactive Advertising Bureau introduced a similar ad campaign in 2009. It was called Privacy Matters, but it had a more negative connotation. This one has a more positive one. There are numerous cases when people receive the wrong ads. For example thin people might receive weight loss ads, married ones might receive ads about meeting new people, and so on.
