Information in this Help topic applies to Windows Internet Explorer 8.
It is possible to use accelerators with selected text on a Web page to perform tasks such as opening a street address on a site map or search for a word in a dictionary of definitions. Also, you can choose web services or web sites to use accelerators to perform several types of activities. Internet Explorer 8 is provided with a series of accelerators included by default, but it is possible to add and remove them as desired. When you first install Internet Explorer 8, you accept the default selection accelerator or accelerators want to choose from a list available online. List of accelerators in November is updated frequently, so make sure you check it occasionally.
Using accelerators
To use an accelerator, follow these steps:
1.Open Internet Explorer StartImagine clicking the Start button, then click Internet Explorer.
2.Go to the Web page containing the text you want to use with an accelerator and select text.
3.Click the button AcceleratorImagine accelerator to get the list of accelerators.
If you place the mouse pointer over each accelerator, you will see a preview of the information or content. In many cases, examination tells you what you want to know, such as the definition of a word or translation. If not, click on the accelerator and Internet Explorer will open the Web service using highlighted text. Also, you can use an accelerator to the new tab page with text that you copied to the Clipboard, such as a mail message or a word processing document. For example, if you receive a street address in an email and want to learn how to get there, you can copy the address to the Clipboard, open Internet Explorer and open a new tab. November tab page, under Application Accelerator, click Show Text copied if you want to check the text that you copied, then click on the accelerator you’ve chosen maps.
Collection of new accelerators
Although Internet Explorer is equipped with an accelerator for the top selection, you may want to take a look at other accelerators available. Accelerators to find us, follow these steps:
1.Open Internet Explorer clicking the Start button, then click Internet Explorer.
2.Click Tools, then click Manage Add-ons.
3. In Manage Add-ons, add-in Types, click Accelerators to display a list of current accelerators.
4.At the bottom of the screen, click search more accelerators.
5.Web page provider Internet Explorer, click a category, then click the desired service.
6.Add Accelerator dialog box, do one of the following:
If you add a new accelerator, click Add. When you add an accelerator, you can select the This is the default for this accelerator. If you replace an existing accelerator, click Replace. If you think you trust the Web site displayed in the From field, click Cancel.
Using accelerators that are not involved
Although there is always a default accelerator for each accelerator, you can add more to that category. When you add a new accelerator in a category, you can view it if you follow these steps:
1.Open Internet Explorer StartImagine clicking the Start button, then click Internet Explorer.
2.Go to the Web page containing the text you want to use with an accelerator and select text.
3.Click the button to display a list of accelerator, point to All accelerators, accelerator and then click that you want to use.
Managing accelerator
To manage accelerators, follow these steps:
1.Open Internet Explorer clicking the Start button, then click Internet Explorer.
2.Click Tools, then click Manage Add-ons.
3.In Manage Add-ons, add-in Types, click Accelerators to display a list of current accelerators.
4.Click on an accelerator in the list and do one or more of the following:
To change the status of an accelerator, click the button On, Off, Set as Default or Remove as default. Note that buttons may change depending on the current status of the accelerator. You may view the homepage of the accelerator service or site that has been installed. To change the category of an accelerator, click Change next to the upper category in the state at the bottom of the Manage Add-ons. To find and add more boosters, click search more accelerators, the bottom of the Manage Add-ons. To remove an accelerator, click the Remove button.
5.Once finished, click Close.
