The world we live in today is computers world, the place where we stock our life, memories, and friends. The space on our computers becomes a pressing problem when you can’t download or save anymore. Maybe it’s an old computer, maybe the programs on your computer run slowly or don’t run at all or maybe you have a lot of stuff stocked inside your computer. No matter what the cause, there is a series of small things you can do to get more space on your computer.
1. Delete the old files or burn them on a disk to have a backup. Always remember to “Empty recycle bin” for Windows, and for Mac to empty all your trash bins such as: iMovies, iPhoto, Mail and Trash.
2. Delete the contents of the Temporary Internet Files Folder. When you use the Internet your browser automatically stores web browser’s cache, cookies, and history.
4. If you have Windows and your computer begins to get low on disk space, a warning message pops up. Click the warning message and the Disk Cleanup Utility automatically starts to free your disk space.
5. Remove unused applications. Have a look at your Program Files folder and see what programs you don’t use, or you don’t remember why you installed them. To remove programs you have to go to the Start Menu – Control Panel – select Add/Remove Programs – select what program you want to remove and – click Change. To finish the operation follow the given instructions. When you do this operation you have to be sure that this is what you want to do, once you do it, you will not be able to undo the operation.
Do the same if you own a Mac – visit the Application folder and delete the unwanted application and application support files.
6. Compress files that you don’t use immediately. For example, use Winzip to zip the files that you don’t want to remove from your computer.
7. Delete your search history, and unwanted e-mails.
