GPS refers to Global Positioning System, an electronic satellite based system, which was earlier used only by military departments and now available to general public.
GPS gains popularity among people who move from point A to point B into unfamiliar territories. GPS works as a digital local guide that provides a complete geographic map, but also information regarding best available hotel or the nearest petrol pump.
You can use a GPS device:
- in your car
- while playing sports
- on the water
- in the air.
Before buying a GPS you need to consider things like: price, models reliability and the purpose of this acquisition. Always ask yourself the following two questions:
- How often and how far do you travel? : if you tend to take short trips don’t buy expensive devices. On the contrary, if you find the GPS indispensable buy the best one you can afford.
- How often does the GPS device update its maps?: certain map updates may cost more than the GPS itself.
