The fans of the famous game series Heroes of Might & Magic received in August a piece of news that certainly pleased them: Ubisoft has announced a new game in the series in March next year, giving some details about the changes that will occur.
For those less familiar with Heroes of Might & Magic universe, it is worth to mention that we are dealing with a turn-based game type strategy (TBS) and the player’s mission is to form a unity-hero on a world map through accumulation of resources and fights with enemies. One of the essential features of the game is that in the combat mode, the player has at disposal a map like a chess table on which the movements of troops and the battles will happen with the help of a little magic.
This universe is familiar but full of novelty. This is what to expect from Heroes VI. Heroes of Might and Magic VI is a prequel to the previous generation and places approximately 500 years before the events of Heroes V. The idea of the whole story is that a famous archangel, restored to life a few centuries after the wars from Elder, intends to regain strength and, through them, to take control over the world called Ashan.
Apparently, its main enemy is represented by an invasion of demons, but the things get complicated with the appearance of the Griffin dynasty, which prevents the archangel to carry out its plans.

The scenes will be familiar, since the foundation of the series retains the character, but the news are not few, nor insignificant. For example, there appear the battles with opponents included in the boss type, a reputation system (more often released in the last game), but also a function to convert an entire city. Instead, the resources have been greatly simplified so that from the four existing in Heroes V, we will meet next year only one: the crystals. Finally, approximately 50% of the units will be completely new, so that even the veterans will need a period of learning and adapting to new rules.
Another interactive element is that the missions can be played in any order, despite the fact that they are interconnected. And as any modern game should include a female hero, Heroes does not make an exception. According to officials of Ubisoft, the gamers will have to control themselves in front of Svetlana, a heroine whose name of Russian origin seems to be a good indication of her sex appeal.

Ubisoft claims that the new Heroes VI will benefit greatly from the fans’ support, by implementing their best suggestions in the game. It remains to be seen whether this will be true at least partially, and in this case, if the results are as expected.
It is certain that the game will see the light or, rather, darkness of the optical units in March 2011. Heroes VI will be available exclusively on PCs, primarily because of its complexity, which would complicate deployment strategies on other platforms. So far it works only in Windows version, but is likely to occur also for Mac operating system.
