GoldenEye 007 is a 2010 first person shooter game developed by Eurocom for Wii and Nintendo DS, based on the James Bond film of the same name, and released on November, 2nd.
Thirteen years ago an impressive shooter called GoldenEye 007 was released on a Nintendo 64. This fact needs to be acknowledged. But don’t think that , just because this game shares the same name as one of the most important shooters in console history, it’s using nostalgia to carry the load…that couldn’t be further from the truth. This is not a remake. It is an entirely new experience and it’s super fun as well.
GoldenEye 007 doesn’t rely on the memories of the ancient shooter that needs to be brave. He achieves that distinction only by his own merits. However, the last edition of the GoldenEye 007 does borrow something important from its predecessors: the core structure. You are a spy after all, which means that you can not just use the brutal force to get through the game’s levels. Stealth is one if the key components of the game because it’s satisfying to sneak up on unexpected solders and strike them dead before they know what hit them.
Being sneaky isn’t the only hint that you are playing as the world class spy, but also objectives that you must complete. Most of them involve taking pictures with your smart phone. GoldenEye is not just completing objectives and moving around undetected, you can shoot solders dead as well. The vehicules sequences are the best part of the game. Although these are brief, they are always exciting.
The single player campaign stretches out for more than 10 hours, and gives you plenty of reasons to replay missions. Unfortunately, the in-game cinema is getting in the way a bit, since you can not skip them even when you replay levels. The online multiplayer component isn’t at the same high level as the single player, but it has its own appeal. All the fun is spoiled because the online is running slowly.
GoldenEye 007 is an awesome game to play, and even if this is an ordinary first person shooter, it works brilliantly in the GoldenEye design.
