HotAirRaccoon presents Get Off My Lawn. This is a strategy game created especially for children, but this doesn’t mean that the grownups can’t play it too.
The level one of the game is called New Neighbors. The enemies of this level are colored in red and orange. They attack your lawns. It appears to be a game similar to Pandemic 2, about which I have spoken yesterday. But now, you must eliminate the viruses and the infections from your lawn. Each enemy has particular characteristics, that you must learn if you want to survive.
You are handling a machine that resembles with one that cuts out the grass from your lawn and I guess this is what it really is. From time to time, the parasites come to infect your grass with certain diseases that will affect the health of your lawn and possibly your own health. The first level is easy to pass. Now you are the second level named No Trespassing. As the name suggests, you don’t have to let the parasites into your courtyard. The enemies of this level are also red and orange, like in the first level. Let’s see how easy this level is. It is as easy as the first level. I hope they will increase in the intensity of the gaming, because if the levels are all the same, you will be bored eventually.
But considering this is a game for children and the children love to play for hours a single game, I believe that the game has reached its target. I have managed that in 2 minutes to arrive to the third level (time in which I wrote this review too). The name of the level is Root Canal. Now a new information is delivered and I consider it proper enough to mention it to you guys. They say that a groundhog is called “whistle pig” because it screams when it is attacked or scared. Now it appears in the game a new enemy, a purple one. Probably the level will be more difficult.
Yes, the third level is more difficult because it is harder to kill those purple enemies. You have to advance into them with your machine that cuts the grass out from your lawn. In this way, you will succeed in killing them, but you have to move fast because you have also other species to kill, like the red and orange enemies from the first levels. They are easy to kill, not like the purple one, but if you lose time with the killing of the purple enemies, you will let the red enemies to destroy the lawn. This is why you have to be very careful and to use a proper mouse, because the game has a fast speed, and I only play it in the normal mode. Can you imagine how the game is at a higher speed? If you can’t, you have to enter the site. Forget about the first levels, you will gon through them quickly. But from the five and six level, the situation started to be more complicated and the children will have problems, if they do not develop a proper strategy.
The level four is called Tooth and Nail and in this game you will meet only purple enemies. A new fact is presented here. The fact that the Americans, which are known for their lawns in front of their houses cut about three feet of grass off their lawns every year. This is referred only to a single American. The Europeans prefer to plant flowers and trees in front of their houses and in the backyard. They are not like the Americans, who like to see only the green in front of their eyes.
The level is easy even if you get to kill only purple creatures. The damages brought to your lawn are considerable higher than the ones made by the red creatures for example, but you can earn some money in this level also. In the fifth level called Rush Hour, it is better to have good reflexes. Now you have besides the enemies mentioned until now, a new type of enemy which is very destructive and fast. Until now, I haven’t upgrated my machine, because there was not necessary, but I consider that now is the most proper time to do this. You can go to shop and buy all that is necessary to better kill the creatures that harm your lawn.
You can buy a pest repellent, because you can’t buy anything else. For example a better machine costs 35000 dollars and you have less than 1000. The level six is called No more than red tape and the enemies of this level are the orange creatures, the purple and the pink ones. The pink creatures are the ones that appeared in the fifth level, being the fastest of all until now. The game tells us at this level that there are more than 10000 species of grass. I like the game because you get to know something new at every single level. I like gardening, but I must admit that I did not know all these facts about grass, machines, Americans, lawns and parasites.
Let’s start the sixth level. It is pretty easy, even more easy than I expected. The game starts using some creatures which perhaps they create more damage to your lawn, but have a slower speed. You can kill them more rapidly and the pest repellent also helps. The next level is named Panzerblitz and now is the moment in which the red creatures come back and they are not the only ones that attack you. No, the whole group is here and they bring somebody new. A kind of parasite that has an armour on it. Unfortunately, you don’t have the pest repellent to use it in this game too. I thought that it will be available for the rest of the game, but it is not. You have to buy a new piece of pest repellent if you want to benefit of more.
You have to kill 50 enemies on a level like this. The bad thing is that when you notice that you dotn have the possibility of using the pest repellent once again (like I thought), you can’t go back to the shop and buy some more for the next round, because the only available control is to go Next. So, if you want to upgrade your chances of getting rid of those creatures, you have to leave it for the next time, when you will know how the game really works.
You can stop the sounds on this game, but it is better to leave them on, in order to hear what is going on. After I finsihed my 7th level, I went directly to the shop and brought once again a pack of pest repellent and a bag of fertilizer, which hopefully will make my grass grow faster. If you don’t protect your lawn properly, you will not raise money effectively. By keeping the healt of your lawn to a high level, you will be able to raise more money.
Grass roots phalanx is the name of the next and final level that I present today. The enemies of this level are most dreadful enemies met until now in the game, the purple enemies and the ones with armour on them. Luckily, I have my pest repellent that will help me. This level is easy, but you have to move faster in order to kill them. It is a limited game, limited by a certain period of time, time in which you have to protect the lawn against parasites like them. If you don’t succeed in doing this, the game will announce the words Game Over.
This is what I say to you too. I liked this game. It is not only for children. Ok, the first levels are, but as the game evolves, it turns into a real strategy games with all the features. Enjoy!
