You can find a lot of applications that claim to help increase your productivity when creating pdf files. Don’t let yourself be fooled by their flashy sites full off affirmations describing that product as the only one you can use. Of course there are professional products that you can use to create these type of files, but those can cost a lot of money.
Fortunately there are free solutions to create the pdf files you like in very little amount of time, without worrying that you need to learn something different to do than you did before.
The first freeware solution that anyone can use to create the documents he or she likes, is to install Open Office. I don’t need to tell you how to create and format your documents in Open Office Writer. All you need to know is that you can use it to export your new document into PDF format.
The advantage from converting documents into the PDF format is that the person who will open them on other computer will see the same formatting used by you. The pdf files have a smaller size than any other format of documents.
Virtual PDF printer software is another method that will help you create PDF files from any applications from browsers to document editors, or any other applications that will allow you to print on a normal printer.
All you need to do is to download and install bulzip pdf printer that is a virtual printer. Open your applications and create the document as you like. When you have done with it simply fire up the printing window and select bulzip from the list of available printers. You need to give a name and select a place where do you want your file to be saved and you are done.
The only problem might be if you forget to select bulzip from the list of available printers and you end up printing a large document with a lot of color pages. This can block your printer spooler and if you have a slower computer you can’t cancel too soon until you have printed a few pages.
If you are preparing your first document for prepress you need to ask for the specifications from the printing bureau before sending the document. They will tell you exactly what you need to do to create a professional quality document, or you can send the document as it is in word or open office format and they will do the rest at an affordable price.
Of course you can try other pdf printing solutions if you have the time and the patience to do some experimentation. This articles points out only the most efficient solutions found by me through the trial and error process.
