For the most part, web browsers are all the same. Even if that’s the case, some people are amazingly stubborn and would prefer to use only one browser. It’s hard to get a person who has only used Internet Explorer to try and accept Firefox. The opposite can be said as well. Other people who aren’t very interested in either of the two may fancy Safari more, or could be fans of Opera. With Chrome added to the mix, there are now plenty of web browsers to choose from. I personally am a fan of Firefox and it actually bothered me that there wasn’t a dedicated iPhone app for the popular browser. Well, to the pleasure of all Firefox fans, this has changed starting from today. The application, called Firefox Home is not an actual web browser. It only allows the user to access his/her Firefox desktop history, bookmarks and open tabs.
To get the app working you’ll also have to download Firefox Sync, a free add-on for Firefox on your desktop. Because Apple doesn’t allow third-party applications to include their own rendering engine, it was impossible for Mozilla to actually create a full web browser. For the first part, the Mozilla Home applications proves pretty useful for what it actually claims to do, which is sync browser history and Bookmarks with your desktop. For the rest of what you need, a good workaround, as presented on Appolicious, is to use the app’s Awesome Bar to search your history (or bookmarks) for Google. This way you actually get to visit the websites you’re interested in and use the browser you know and love while doing it. You can find Firefox Home as well as the Firefox Sync application here.
