To tell the truth, we never thought this day would come. It is the day we discovered that in 2011, Google is not the most visited website on the planet. Guess who occupied the number one spot; you have one try and I bet you can’t miss it. If in 2009, Google was the number one website being accessed a huge number of times, this year Facebook has taken over the throne.
Last year, Yahoo’s mail was holding on pretty tight to the second spot and Facebook could only be found on number 3. YouTube was all the way down on number 7 and number 10 was occupied by the rather famous online shop called E-Bay. This year, the situation has experienced quite a turn-over and Facebook is now ranked the number one website of 2010, while Google, the titan, has to settle for the number 2 spot. Coming up is Yahoo mail on number 3 while YouTube has climbed 2 positions, occupying number 5. Bing is the latest edition to this top 10, found on the last position but taking the honors away from e-Bay.

According to Brothersoft, this information is based on study performed by Experian Hitwise on the United States public, based on data collected between January and November 2009 and the same period in 2010. Facebook is now the king of all websites in the United States, with a 8.93 percentage rate of all site visits, while Google was left behind with a 7.19 percent. Yahoo mail and Yahoo are next with 3.52 and 3.30 percent and the all famous video website called YouTube is number 5 with 2.65 percent.
Unless a marvelous new website will appear in 2011 and become the mother of all websites the rank of Google or Yahoo, we are pretty sure that Facebook will still be number one in 2011 as well.
