Dwarf War is a strategy game which can be played directly in your browser. You don’t have to download any software, nor to pay a fee, if you play it on addictinggames.com. Check the section with the strategy games. There you will find this game, but also many others of which I will discuss in the next days.
At first, after the game begins, you have to create a new game. This is done by pressing the Empty slot on the screen. There are three slots like this. Then you have to enter your name and click Enter. Or you can hit the button where it says Continue. In the first image on the screen, after you have written your name, the player can see a fade map, where he will make all his conquests. The location on the map is somewhere between the Dwarven Mountains and The Great Grasslands.
The first level of the game is called The North Frozen. The next levels are names as it follows: 2 – Glacier’s Edge, 3 – Ice River Pass, 4 – Tundra’s Thaw, 5 – The Grasslands Begin, 6 – The Prarie, 7 – Pasture’s Trail and 8 – The Meadow Begins.
The only available level is of course the first one. Select it and see what are the next instructions. The objective of those who play this game is to defend their armies while they pass through the land of elves. Elves will enter from the right side of the screen. Be careful because they will attack your army. You can ask for the help of more dwarfs, by clicking on more units at the bottom of the screen, below the battlefield.
But in order to do this, you will have to pay with gold. To obtain gold, you have to use miners. There are a few places on the map where you can place your miners to extract gold. Luckily for you, they move extremely rapidly and you will be able to reach to high level of gold in no time. The more money you collect, the more miners you can place to extract gold. On the map that I see in front of my eyes, and that will see too, if you will enter this game, there are only 3 points or three mines, better said, from where your miners can extract gold.
The miners and everybody in your army has a certain level of health. Luckily for you, again I say it, they do not eat, like in other stratgey games. They only need to travel through those lands in peace. Well, this is not going to happen. Not if you want to go through the elves land.
Even if there are only three available places where you can place your miners in order to extract gold, you can put them to work on other fields. It is true that they won’t have the same productivity as those who extract gold from those special locations, but they will extract gold as well. It must be the field. Probably the land is filled with gold.
The miners have no ability of protecting themselves, that is why you have to create a sort of protection over them. You can’t spell them, even though the spells are not strangers to this game, but you can create foot soldiers and gunners to protect them against the elves and their scouts. Look out for the gnomes, that are made of solid gold. They are moving fast on your screen. If you are fast too, and you manage to click on it on time, you can add some extra gold to your purse.
At the top of the screen, you can see the health of your army. Make sure to keep it as high as possible. The cost of a foot soldier is of 100 pieces of gold and this is the exact price for creating a gunner. So, in other words, you rely only on your miners to provide gold and after that, on your army to protect the miners and also to advance into that land.
It is said that Dwarf War will be saved exactly in the position where you left it and when you think of coming back again, you can enter from where you want. I don’t like the fact that I cannot move my soldiers. I wanted to move a gunner more to the left, but it seems that I can’t do this.
The elves have strong powers over animals and they can control them. At their first attack, they sent rabbits to harm the army. Against an army, the rabits can’t do any harm, but against the non-protected miners, they can. In this situation, the army must shoot and kill the rabits in order to protect the miners who will get them more gold.
If you don’t have enough miners able to extract gold, so that you can raise a great army, you will be remembered from time to time to add more miners on the map. Try to place them as close to the golden nuggets as you can. After many battles, if you win your first battle (I guess you usually do, because only in this way, the creators of the game can keep you close), you will be congratulated for your success and told that in the future you can see the progress of your army and of your soldiers in the upper right corner of the screen. If you want to set other controls to the game, for example if you want to lower the sound, you can click on the Options section in the lower right corner.
You are pointed that the level one is completed and that you are ready to go to the next level. After this, you can read on the screen that you have won the battle, but there is still a war that waits for you, that must be won. The statistics regarding the pieces of gold extracted, the elves which were killed by you and the dwarves lost are presented at the end of every level. Now you have new units for your army. These include gunners that fire two bullets at once. One is up and one is down in order to kill quicker the enemy, which is the elf. I thought that if it was said that I will travel through mountains, through the land of elves, I get to travel, but no, thr troops are static. They only move when they are attacked and the gunner from a higher level than the gunner, which is attacked, is not protecting the gunner which is at a lower level (obviously). You have to place many gunners at one level, if you want to succeed, because the gunner and the soldiers don’t look to their right or left, like a real soldier does. They look only in their front and this is it.
I will not discuss about the Glacier’s Edge or other levels. I am sure that they bring other surprises, that’s why I intend to discover them, but by myself. If you want to experience the thrill of this game, you are invited to join the community on additinggames.com.
