“Dungeon Siege” is one of the games, of which you are already used to. My first review concerning it, was that one, in which I announce you that the game embraced the vogue free online gaming. Now, it`s high time to announce you that “Dungeon Siege III” will be launch in 2011, for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
A good piece of news for the fan of the game, but rather disappointing for somebody extremely curious as me. As usual, I directed myself to the official site of the producer, Obsidian, for more information, but this isn`t public, unless you are a member of the community. In fact, the decision of sharing information with the fans is quite justifiable, but I think that persons not really interested in the game should be given some hints about what`s going there. After all, it`s a matter of self-promotion.
Thanks God that you`ve got at least screenshots for delighting our eyes. These are available, thanks to Square Enix and will surprise you for sure. There`s a quite notable difference between the old “Dungeon Siege” and the latest version proposed by Obsidian: the graphics are spectacular and the story seems to be “updated” to a fresh air.
Obsidian is also the producer of “Fallout”, game that passed through our recent reviews, so you will easily recognize the style. In the past, “Dungeon Siege” was developed by Gas Powered Games and looked quite similar to Blizzard`s creations, such as “Diablo” or the direct concurrent, “World of Warcraft”.
After all, it`s a matter of personal taste in choosing between “Dungeon Siege” and “World of Warcraft”, both have magic, war and drama in their inner structure, it depends on willing you are to see more orcs on your way and from this point of view, World of Warcraft will offer a plenty show of hideous creatures, ready to tear you apart.
Chris Taylor, the eternal creator of “Dungeon Siege” has retired to the function of adviser, but still has a strong word to say in the process of creation. For instance, he affirmed during an interview that the new sequel won`t get too far from its big sisters, sequel one and two, but the latest sequel will be much more simplified. You will see on yourself whether Chris Taylor was right or not, there are still a few months of waiting.
There are also rumors, that state “Dungeon Siege” will become a single-campaign game, instead of the classical multi-player feature. We`ll have to wait and see what`s going with this game. Another rumor linked the release of “Dungeon Siege” with the launch of one rival, “Diablo” signed Blizzard, estimated for the early 2011. Personally, I don`t see any connection between these two games: “Dungeon Siege” is focused on the story of courage of a common farmer transformed into a hero, while in “Diablo”, we are speaking about esoteric forces of evil and their cruel revenge. Correct me, if I`m wrong, but the direct rival of “Dungeon Siege” is “World of Warcraft”.
