Dream Chronicles is a game I downloaded from Yahoo Games to see if I can play the game on my computer, because I have a doubt on this. I managed to play the first levels of the game, of which I will mention here, but immediately after this, my computer blocked. The available RAM in my computer is of 0.99 GB. It is a bit strange that this situation happened, but it did, this is certain. I must have some other issues on my computer, because I can hardly believe that a game from Yahoo Games can consume so many resources. The price of this game is of 19.99 dollars and I can assure you it is worth it.
Too bad I can’t play it, because of my video card. Anyway, I said that I managed to play the first two levels of the game, which is about 15 minutes of gameplay. The main character of the game is you, a woman. Sorry guys, if you wanted to be a man, in this game you’ll be Fidget’s wife. And you have a daughter, named Lyra. I don’t know if Lyra has a brother or a sister, because I could not play the game further.
What I discovered with pleasure was the nice interface. It is like you are in a dream for real. The images sometimes move, there is steam here and there, everything is created to reproduce the exact feeling that you have when you sleep. The game starts with the presentation of what has happened in the kingdom where you live. I don’t know if you are a royalty, I haven’t discovered this. All I could see is that you live in a beautiful home, with great furniture. Even though it is created like in a dream, you can see the smoothness of the corners and the paint that enhance the beauty of it.
The game is included in the Puzzle category of games, because you have to find certain items in the game and then use them to solve problems, and situations. They can also be used for discovering other items that can be useful on a later date.
It seems that Lilith, a witch has spelled the entire kingdom and only you can save the kingdom from its spell. You are placed in the game, in your bedroom, where you discover that your husband is not. You find a journal where your husband Fidget tells you that you are his only hope and that he went to solve a problem. It appears that you have to save everybody. In your bedroom, you will discover some other items that can be of help and also you have to plan your escape. You have to enter the hallway that is immediately after your room, hallway from where you can go to Lyra’s bedroom. But to get there, you have to unlock the door of your room, which like in a spell, it starts to freeze. And it freezes for good. You cannot open it.
Luckily for you there is a window there, that can be used by you to direct the light into the ice, to melt the ice. But you have to find something that will direct the light into the door, because now the light is on a wall. But this is not the solution. In your room, you have a fireplace. You can light it with ease, immediately after you find the match. Probably the fireplace has the wood and the gas alsready there. So, all you need is a match. You find the match on the floor and you can go on with your adventure.
Make sure to read the diary Fidget left you, because there you will find instructions for your next adventure, your next level. The journal will be placed in the lower right corner of the screen. The items that can be used by you in your tasks will be placed at the bottom of the screen and they will be highlightened when you will place the cursor above them. When you take an item and want to use it in a certain location, where you should not use it, the computer will indicate that what you are trying to do is wrong and you should follow another path. You are not limited by time, but if you play the free trial version, you want to see moren of the game in those 60 minutes.
Also, it would be good if you would find the pieces that reconstruct the Dream Jewel, a jewel that is made of iron or another material (it looks like forged iron) and precious gems. Everytime when you find an item like this, it will be taken towards the journal. The Dream Jewel was created by the Fairy of Laughter. After you manage to escape your own bedroom, you will be directed towards your daughter’s room, but you can’t get there now. First you have to place all the creatures where they belong. This sounds a bit strange, but if you watch the ceiling, you will realise that the glass on it, that allows the light to come through is made of colored glass representing animals.
You have to find the items that represent the animals in the stained glass and then after you find them to place them in their exact location. When you will finish this, the road to your daughter’s bedroom will be cleared on any inconvenience.
Meanwhile, you will discover that every item in the house indicates the presence of your husband there. For example, he left his keys in a drawer and he never does that when he is away. He locks the drawer. This time the keys are in the drawer, like he was surprised by something and he had to leave in an instant. Or like he was in a jurry and left the keys there intentionally to make you realise that something fishy is happening there.
The game presents a lot of puzzles and you have to have a certain IQ to solve it. Still, not only the most intelligent people should play it, but also young children and old persons. For an old person, it could be more difficult to deal with a computer, than finding the solutions in the game. You might be surprised by a grandmother who solves all the puzzles, simply because she has a life experience.
