Red Gate’s .NET Reflector now has a new update available, which is the 5.1.5.0 version. It is not new in fact, since it was delivered to the audience in July 2009. We wait for another update if this is possible. I have to mention that this is the last update seen on CNET. On the site of the manufacturer, the things can be different. That is why I invite you all to enter red-gate.com, to find more information. I will enter the site immediately, after I will present you some data about this product, as its own producer described it. First of all, it is a free software available for Windows operating systems, which needs only 1 MB of your hard drive.
It is built on the .NET technology and as an additional requirement, it asks the user to know about this technology, because the software won’t teach the users how to handle the functions and the variables. And most likely, the program won’t show you what is in fact a variable and how you can use it. Even if you don’t have the code for a .NET assembly, you can still navigate through them, thanks to the capabilities of this software, which allows the users to search and view the class hierarchies. You can decompile and analyze the .NET assemblies, which I mentioned earlier. The analyze can be done in Visual Basic, in IL and C#. This is the description provided by Red Gate Software. And now, let’s move on to the page of the manufacturer, where hopefully we will find some more info.
Ok, I entered their site, which looks extremely good and came up with a new piece of information, that from the end of this February, the price for that software is going to be of 35 dollars, so the software is not free anymore. This will be sold as a perpetual license, without a time bomb or any forced updates that will cost the user more dollars. To make this tool work, the users must pay a low amount of money. This may cause a lot of distress in the .NET community, but this is for the better, because the product will be in this way, updated more quickly and with the new version which can be found on this site, which is the 7th version (so there were some updates from 2009, but they were not presented on CNET).
Without some revenues incoming from the use of this program, the developers cannot dedicate themselves only to the work upon this segment. Among other products which can be downloaded from this site: SmartAssembly, ANTS Memory Profiler, ANTS Performance Profiler, SQL Compare, SQL Data Compare, SQL Source Control, Data Compare for Oracle, PST Importer 2010 and others. More information can be found at the site I presented earlier. Next stop there will be the antivirus software programs, the ones that are free. Stay connected to learn more.
