NOAA Weather is an application that you can use on your site in order to show your visitors information about their local weather. The data are provided directly by NOAA. The widget works only on the teritorry of the United States logically, so if you have visitors from Europe, they will not be able to see how the weather is going to be in their cities, unless they check a weather report.
The plugin gets updates every 30 minutes. To find your location, you have to click on a button which will show you a drop-down list, from where you will be able to select the city where you are or in which you live. The plugin does not see automatically where you are, like other apps that present the weather. The information will be present on the sidebar and it may take about 30 minutes until the plugin to become functional on your site. Here I am referring to the person who downloads this plugin from the WordPress site, not to those who enter the site as visitors.
At first, the widget may not even be connected to your sidevar, but you have to let a certain time to connect to the XML file. This file will present the weather in the location you have selected. If you do not wait, the plugin will not function correctly. In fact, you don’t have anything to do, but to wait, when you are in this situation. Depending on the theme that you use, you may want to change a bit the plugin, by using the CSS codes, if you want. The author of this plugin is Tim Berneman.
This application needs the user’s permission to download an XML file that comes directly from NOAA. Make sure to grant this request, because the download will be performed directly into the Plugins directory, in the widget’s folder, which means that the program was updated and the data will be more accurate than before.
