“Disciples III ” is one of the games, on which I wouldn`t ever bet that it would enter any top ten. To my surprise, the game sits comfortably on the fourth place. I guess it`s high time to get “disciplined” and to see exactly what is the magic of this game.
Probably, “Disciples ” series don`t have that much players, because the game is mainly distributed via Windows. Even the price of the creation isn`t very affordable: 40 EUR. If you decide to pass over these prejudices, you will find a quite amazing game, somehow reminding you of Lord of the Rings` magic and fairy characters. Personally, I didn`t understand who is disciple to whom, because everybody is fighting with another character both women or men, but I appreciate the splendid 3D graphics.
The producers of “Disciples III: Renaissance” gave this mythological title to the game, believing that they created an evolved strategy feature. You will see either they are right or not. If you are already a loyal fan and have played the previous two versions is quite impossible not to see the improvements made with this latest game.
Be a disciple and enter one of the three races playable: the Empire, the Legions of the Damned or the Elven Alliance and fight for the supremacy into the fairy world of Nevendar. No matter the camp you have chosen, your character features unique style and skills. Tired to be the leader?!- advance into the fight your custom hero (he can use more than 450 weapons or spells). Feeling that you are lacking new forces?!- call and recruit members for your camp from Paladins, Healers or Mages; they will help you either by the force of their arms or by creating more powerful spells for your mission. Producers guarantee that you won`t get bored during the minimum of 70 hours of campaign, as 19 missions are waiting to conquer your spirits in the more tense situations.
If “Renaissance III” stirred your interest so far, there are some technical details, that you have to take in account before buying it: you will need Windows XP/Vista or 7 and a minimal free space of 1 GB. Comparing with other games, that could be supported just by Vista or Windows 7 and required the double of free space, it`s a discreet game.
These days, there`s an enhanced version of this game launched on the market, the so-called “Disciplines III- Renaissance Steam Special Edition”. The new features brought by this edition are three exclusive maps for single players, a hot seat mode and over 50 achievements to unlock.
If you are looking for a temperate medieval game, “Disciples III” can be your perfect choice.
