Civilization V to be launched in September

My friends are crazy about “Civilization”, I have to admit it that I love this game too, although sometimes it has disappointed me. The big piece of news is that a special edition of the latest series, “Civilization V” is to be launched in September.

In a recent interview, Sid Meier and the producer company, 2K Games, announced that in September fans will be offered a Special Edition containing five figurines of metal, a soundtrack disc, a behind the scenes story and a art book coverage for their personal collection. Well, some ironic spirits will say that Sid Meier is hit by the economic crisis and so he tries to sell much more, others like me will say: if he has enough fans to afford the cost of the new package (estimated at 100$), than good for him.

Civilisation V” received positive reviews until now: both game editors and players appreciated the more realistic image and sound, the more realistic exploration task or the fully animated leaders. The current series was considered a success at E3 2010 awards, winning important distinctions as Best Strategy game or Best Pc Game. The deadline of the next release is officially fixed on September 21 and I hardly wait to see the improvements.

From the official site, I could get one secure information for you: “Civilization V” won`t treat one historic period as the previous versions, but the whole humanity. It`s an exhaustive and very courageous effort to lead a civilization from its dawn until the space age. Thanks to “Civilization” you can be in the shoes of greatest leaders and so to build the most powerful empires on the world, but there`s something that you will ever regret: you can change history, as much as you please. Anyhow, the attempting of being a statesman could serve in your real world, at least I tend to become more diplomatic since I played the game. Either if I`m wrong or not about its inner diplomacy purpose, the game is worth trying just for the fun of discovering new technologies for your people, for leading the entire political system of a state or just to feel once in your life the most important man/woman in the world.

The list of the civilizations available for playing is somehow questionable. Sid Meier affirmed that he choose the most pregnant of all, but somehow he seemed not to take in account civilizations erased by time or mythology and this was my greatest regret related to this game. Maya, Atlantis, Polynesia or even Mongols as tribe meant a lot into human mentality and they could have been reminded. I bet that a game related to Atlantis will be a veritable success, if somehow gets the courage to do it, why not maybe Meier in flesh and bones. Atlantis is a powerful riposte to all mythological games, that somehow mix up myth, violence and salvation…Atlantis is not to be saved, at least transformed into a mental treasure. Anyhow, if the game stirred your interest a little bit, here are your possible civilizations: America, Arabia, Aztec, China, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iroquois, Japan, Ottoman, Persia, Rome, Russia, Siam or Songhai.
