Cisco WebEx Meeting Center is a business application available for free for iPhone users who lets them to participate in meetings even though they are not at their offices, thus they cannot connect to a computer to benefit of all the advantages of a true meeting. This is a sort of mini-meeting, but provides the same functionalities, except the fact that you will see your partners on a smaller screen, depending on what you have. The application is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Of all these devices, the iPad seems the most suitable for having a meeting. I can’t imagine talking to my partners using an iPod. Come on.
As the name says, the manufacturer of this application, which surprisingly comes at no charge at all for the iPhone users, is Cisco obviously, a company which you probably know because it organizes classes and courses for those who want to enter the IT world, providing very good training in terms of programming languages, servers and whatever you want to know about information technologies. In most cases, the universities that you have graduated are not that recognized by a potential employer as a degree from a Cisco Academy. So, this is the manufacturer about which we are talking.
Now about the application, it supports 3G and Wi-Fi, of course, this depends on the capabilities of the hardware equipment, it allows you to hear what other people are saying (this is extremely important, because this is a meeting we’re talking about); again, this depends also on the features of your Apple device, it allows you to chat with certain people from the meeting or with all of them, to see who is participating at the meeting and who is missing, see who is talking and focus or not on what he is saying, view the documents and the files that are presented and also present files by yourself in front of the audience that is not even in the same room with you.
A very good application for business persons. Who knows, perhaps your boss will gather a few men and start a meeting. If you are not there, you could be invited to join the “party” in another way. Since you have a smartphone, why not?
