If you’re not convinced you want to buy an iPhone, then you definitely have options and can choose from a large series of Android or Windows Mobile powered phones. If you’re interesting in something like the iPad, however, what choice is there really? Whether you like it or not, you have to buy the device from the single manufacturer, Apple. Or do you? Well, soon enough you may be able to choose what tablet you buy too.
As Digitimes has discovered, Acer is set to launch a 7 inch and a 10 inch tablet PC in the fourth quarter of this year. Both tablets will be based on the ARM architecture and Android. Acer has already made a great statement on the mobile phone market with its Liquid E. Its position on the laptop market can’t be disputed. So the next logical step for the company is a product in between laptops and mobile phones. Acer has already been talking to mobile carriers for future partnerships and promoting the future tablets. The 7 inch and 10 inch tablets will both run Android 2.2 and come with Flash support. Other details haven’t been revealed up to this date but as usual more info will spread across the Internet soon, long before the 2 Acer tablets approach their release date.11
