3 Writing Rules

Writing is a very pleasant activity as long as you are not stressed by external factors, such as an engine which never stops functioning, neighbours that listen to music at a very high volume, children that annoy their dogs, cars with drivers that went all of them at the same school of “gentility” and so on.

The best way to find your inspiration is to create a location where you can write in peace, without individuals like the ones mentioned above to disturb you. And God knows that there are plenty of those.

1.     Focus on what you write.

This is very much related to the previous explanation of mine. If you are focusing on that engine which functions from 3 am, you will not be able to write any longer what you thought to write today. But this doesn’t mean only that. You can start write about potatoes and end up talking about carrots. When you have in mind a certain topic, it is best to stick to that topic.

2.     Publish regularly

It is available for those who have blogs and not only. Those who are journalists and have to go to work and find some subjects that can be exposed in their newspapers, have to write articles every day, right? Well, in this way, a blogger should do this also. He or she must write about what they love, have to focus on the topic and the niche of their site or blog and have to publish regularly. If you publish one post per day, your visitors will get used to one post per day. If you publish three posts per day, they will know that you publish three and so on. This goes on and on. When you are not going to publish posts for two weeks, because you are leaving in a vacantion, you have to announce your readers. If you are a journalist, you probably don’t have to do that, but if you are a blogger and no one could take your place or even if someone will take your place for that period, it is good to announce your audience. The relationship between a blogger and his audience is a bit different than between a simple journalist and his audience.

3.     Write short posts and have a limit of their number

You use the RSS button right? You want the people to subscribe to your feed, right? Well, if you want this, by showing them you have 20 posts per day, you will make them to unsubscribe in a very short time. It is best to keep your posts below 1000 words or around this number. The long posts should be complemented by images and videos. You should take benefit from the animated pictures and from the videos, since they can’t be used in printed newspapers and magazines. The online media market can draw much more clients than the classic media. This is why blogging is very popular these days.
