To my shame, I didn`t play until now “Starcraft ” and my friends promise me severe “punishments”, unless I do it soon. The first thing that bothered me about this total success signed Blizzard was the pessimistic tone of the plot. “Starcraft” series don`t differ that much of “Matrix” idea: the humanity is assaulted by aliens or robots and there`s just one last hope left in Pandora`s box, that hope that a messianic hero is playing through your agency. Maybe I`m old-fashioned, but I prefer to avoid this apocalyptical theme.
Another feature, that could diminish the importance of this game and certainly worked in my case, is the appropriated similarity with other famous game, “Star Wars”. Although, the two games have different producers, there are some similarities between the Stars games: both presents super- advanced technology used by Man as last weapon; the humanity or the good guys, if you are to take in account all the menaced species in Star Wars, have to fight in a final struggle for survival.
“Starcraft II ” is on its way towards you. If you take your time to visit the official site, you will be awarded with 80% of fresh content of the sequel at your disposal: new weapons and the enemies raising from dark, that`s the minimal official information about the long- awaited game. There`s no plot detailed, although the loyal fans know exactly what will happen.
I find it quite interesting that the site seems to address directly to any potential gamer. As consequence, you are asked to support the “cause” and so to try the entrance exam or to sustain a propaganda campaign. If you think that these requests are quite uncommon, you are explained that you have to earn your place in history! I have to admit that`s an inspired strategy to gather more players, by rendering them responsible of the game`s faith. What I could find more from this site is that The Dominion (the last state of humanity) fights for the survival, for preserving the species.
It`s more than a paradox for me how can a site, that offers you a few sections (tests and screenshots) can be so beloved on social networks. Believe or not, but more than 18, 000 like the “Starcraft II” site and are hardly waiting to see the new version.
In the piece of news, that attracted my attention on “Starcraft II”, the producers talked very proudly about the game, which tends to become the most desired of the entire year. I can understand their reasons, after all the first version sold more than 11 millions of units just for PC platforms, which is more than a record.
I may be too exaggerated, but the fight between the three species led inside the “Starcraft” may somehow become a real one, but played into the world of games. “Starcraft” is a powerful rival for eternal “Warcraft” (ironical or not, both games speak about a “craft”) and the recent “Call of Duty”. Anyhow, the game will be officially released on 27 July, so be ready to buy it.
