Why did Activision decide to launch two games on the same topic during the same year, 2010?! This question bothered me too and as the majority of game editors, I believe that`s a quite risky movement even for a profitable company as Activision. What if gamers get bored of the first launch, meaning “Golden eye” and they don`t look interested in the fresh version of James Bond in “Blood stone”?! After all, even the main actors differ in the two games: Pierce Brosnan made history as 007 before Daniel Craig showed up in the scenery.
It`s true that the memory of the eight millions of copies sold in 1997 made Activision wish to give to the world an enhanced version, but still there`s a question mark about this demarche. In 1997, the game “Golden eye” was launched by Nintendo and received worldwide positive critics. The game was developed for a first-person shooter and presented multi-level mission in Soviet Union and Carribean. “Golden eye” isn`t a metaphoric game used for the sake of arts, you will see in the game that`s related to powerful satellite, that can literally be a severe danger to any city on the Earth, if it`s used by bad boys.
In 2010, Activision offers you a multi-interactive version of the game, as far as you can see from the official site. The backgrounds of Russia are darker and more dangerous than ever, you can spilt your screen for a multiplayer experience (which starts with this version) or you can go any time on a single player mission, it`s up to you. NDS (Net Design Services) experience will come soon, at least this is what producers posted there.
The enhanced game will be launched in November, exclusively for Wii- another strange decision of producers. If this version is good, why other players that use other consoles, can`t play it?! I think Activision signed a partnership with Wii just for the beginning, which is quite an understandable and prudent step. If the new “Golden eye” proves to be a success, the game will be delivered to other users of consoles too, I think.
Something that isn`t that ok is the fact that the James Bond in the game is Daniel Craig`s copy and not that of Pierce Brosnan`s, as many of us have been expecting. I understand that Activision wants to render an original version of this classical, but to replace one actor with the other one is a measure synonym with denying the talent of Pierce Brosnan.
Anyhow, if you jump over these sensitive details, you will find on your console an exploding game, with Russians that are smashed away by your guns or cars or with fallings from the highest buildings around. In this mission, you aren`t alone, you will have several secret agents to help, but no notice of Bond girl.
